As of Karune's Q&A Batch 47, the Overlords regained transportation abilities. While it overlaps the Warp Prism in similarity, the Overseer retains the ability to summon a Nydus Worm with energy. Do you think Zerg needs two transportation systems? How would you make it so that the Overlord and Warp Prism does not overlap?

On the bright side, you can now create "sudden creep" with Drones and Overlords, where you can transport Drones and use the Overlord to creep an area, then place Spine or Spore Crawlers. However, that's exactly the same advantage the Protoss have with 1 Probe and 1 Warp Prism.

Are you sure the overlord got their transport abilities back? I just read the q&a and it said nothing about overlord transportability.

    EDIT: Nevermind, found it haha.
I think this is a great idea, bringing back overlords transportability. It gives the zerg more options. Rather than using more resources and nydus worms to expand, we can go back to using overlords to expand but dropping creep AND dropping drones. this gives the overlord more of a role in the game instead of just dropping creep. good job blizzard, something finally good heard in a long time.

    What do you guys think?

I don't get how the nydus worms work. Like does it cost minerals to create nydus worms or energy based? Can someone explain how they work?

Its effectively just the nydus canal created on creep by overseers and connected to all openings, i think it takes energy.

Overlord transport is great, sure simplifies movement.

I guess the 2 can be used a diversion then main forces attack somewhere else like the main.

To clarify, Karune did not directly state a change in the Nydus Worm or Network, so one can assume it is still the BlizzCon 08 build.

The Overseer can create a Nydus Worm through energy (75 at the time), once you have created a Nydus Network. Nydus Worms does NOT require the Creep to create (in fact, a Nydus Worm actually PRODUCE Creep around itself), so you can immediately summon several Nydus Worms inside the enemy base with 1-2 Overseers. A lot of players who tried it at BlizzCon found it too powerful.

I hope Blizzard does something fun with this, because it is way to similar to the Warp Prism at this time. Also, what might happen if your Overlord has loaded units, but ordered to morph into an Overseer? Will the units exit outside or will they die inside the Overlord?

It needs creep to built on I think that's what they said. Or else it can go anywhere?

That was the point of the "too powerful" comments on the BlizzCon Nydus Worm. It CAN go anywhere as of now, so if your Overlord tranport rush failed, just create a Nydus Worm from a safe distance without risking your Overseer.

Oh yeah. They said as long as you have LoS you can build a Nydus Worm meaning you could create one in a expo and kill all the probes/Scv/Drones.

You know what'd be cool? If when a nydus worm burrows under enemy units, they get eaten up by the worm. That'd be a fun tactic lol.

Blizzard had 2 options to fix the nydus worm problems, one was give an pre mutate to the nydus who can travel underground with limit capasity. And the other option go back to the overlords.

They choose the second becoz i think all the programmers who worked on engine of SC2 they left and now only had maping programers.
Soo they cant try any idea difficult to make.

Why would all the programmers leave? If i was a programmer in Sc2 I would stay for few reasons,
1.We get to see/play Sc2 before the release date.
2.I'd love to get some credit for being a programmer in the Sc2
3.I think they earn quiet a bit from making Sc2.
4.Can't think of other reasons >.>

I dont said that the engine programers choose to left, if blizzard dont need them any more in SC2 can move them to another blizzard project.
I really dont know, i said that becoz it seem like blizzard is taken the more basics ideas to do.

Idk because they already programmed it and why would they remove it for no reason. Only reason is to balance the game for all the races.

They would've already considered and/or ruled out the more complex ideas, it will be mostly balancing at this stage.
