Hey Guys, Hey Guys I tried the 14 pool strategy and once mid game came didnt know what to do to bust through their wall. I didnt spread enough creep definitely and didnt keep my minerals low. I didnt scout early on either, how do i transition to mid game when they wall up with tanks and/or cannons Please comment http://www.gamereplays.org/starcraft2/replays.php?game=33&show=download&id=139747
hi, im a mid-platinum player. in short what you want to do when a terran walls in and make an impenetrable wall is to expand like crazy and make A LOT of drones. in your replay you had only 30-ish drone, that is too little! also you could have taken those 3 lower expos too, and boosted your income. this income you can spend on extra units or upgrades. also when you have too much mineral and gas to spend you can consider building another hatchery or two in your base to get more larvae. this should give you an supreme income advantage and you can crush your opponent
what Undrass said and... a bunch of roaches with hydras is a good base army against terran until you have teched to something else or nydus/drop
I'm going to go a different route here, I never attack Terran head on. I prefer to drop, Nydus my way in, or if worst comes to worst, cut him off from gaining any more minerals. Rarely, unless I can guarantee victory, will I even try to lay a Terran player out. Well maybe if I have Brood Lords.. But yes work on boosting your economy, more Drones is a must (Zerg take so long to learn how many Drones you'll eventually be using up).... A third hatchery (counting your expansion) in your main base can be a great idea, almost requried after you expand once. Remember with Terran you don't have to break through there walls to win or even kill them.
Sounds like you have 4 great suggestions in here... 1. Build more drones 2. Keep my minerals low 3. Creep it up 4. Scout I'd add being more disciplined about spawning larvae. If you can do all of these things well, you'll have figured out most of the puzzle to playing rts zerg. Otherwise your title of the thread is deceptive. You need to actually give me an actual build you were going and the situation and why you went that way for me to adequately help you think of a next step unit transition. There is no one wrong strategy, it's a matter of application and execution. When you say you want a transition, it sounds like you're asking for a unit mix, but all of your problems are mechanical, not unit composition.
