Since the release of the German magazine, it is clear that they have stated that the Zergs are still only in concept stage. From my understanding, I do not think this is the case.

Rewind back to WWII, and take a look at this.
    http://media.pc.ign.com/media/850/850126/vids_1.html

Watch the International Round Table video and forward to the 1 min 40 sec mark. Rob Pardo said that they are very far along and could play the game multiplayer with all 3 races. If what Rob Pardo meant was true, then the Zergs are probably not in concept stage anymore.

That means, the German magazine and Blizzard are contradicting themselves. From my understand, I believe what the German magazine meant was that the Zergs are probably not very polished as of yet. They would still need to add stuff here, and there. But I seriously don't think that the Zergs only got the Zerglings and Mutalisks done as of now.

Hopefully, we will learn more about this at BlizzConn.

True. But I don't think what the German magazine saying that only the Zerglings and Mutalisks are finished is true. Because if all 3 races are playable through multiplayer, Zergs got to have more than Zerglings and Mutalisks.

what the german article meant was that the only two zerg units that are presentable to the public atm are the zergling and mutalisk. The zerg are probably in the begining of a sweep, with the terrans just being finished 2 weeks ago

I dont think their done with any of them. Remember how they just recently got rid of the soul hunters? the same can happen with any of the 3 again

the way blizzard works is they do a sweep of one race at a time, at WW1 they would have been in the middle of doing a terran sweep, and they will either be on to zerg or finishing off terran atm. When all races have finished a sweeping cycle they will do another, and then another.

concept for the zerg may also mean balancing and determining what looks right for starcraft 2. i think they are already done 50% of the zerg.

Well there is a big difference between playable and finished. They may have a "first draft" zerg army but the units are nowhere near as developed or balanced as the other 2 races.

Anyway the majority of the info we have is from roughly translated magazine articles. There is a good chance that things were lost in translation, changed since it was written, or that they were simply wrong.

I hope the German guy is wrong, I find it difficult to believe that they've been in production for like 3-4 years if not more and just starting with the zerg. This guy also says in the article that overall the game is 30% finished which is a pretty retarded number considering the gameplay videos we've seen.

Anyway, Rob Pardo is a way more reliable source and since he said that we shouldn't be too worried.

Remember its not only multiplayer. A story, cinematics, campaign creating, voicing, portraiting, making a user friendly editor. Things like that take time and although we dont know for sure whats the progress with the single player part, I assume that its more or less advanced, since there are already some new characters like the Tychus Findlay person, but... what else do we know?

I highly doubt that the zerg are even close to done. Of all the races, zerg are probably the most complicated to make. I'd say only about 30% of zerg is atm concept. At the most 50%.

Not to be too pessimistic, Griffith, but even if we saw demo videos of all three races a 30% completion of the game as a whole still wouldn't be too far-fetched. As with anything, the hardest and most painstaking task of any major project like this is fine-tuning and polishing; often times resulting in remaking a whole portion of what was already "finished."

While I do believe that after 4 in the making that the Zerg units should be at least existent and playable, I have my doubts on whether or not they're nearly as flushed out as the other two races; and as a consequences not displayable to the public without receiving a ton of negative reviews which would be premature anyway.

My hope/guess is that the Zerg is still in the "refinement" stages, that they more or less the whole arsenal of units for the race, and that the game will be released at the end of 2008 earliest.
