Huge improvement indeed. Good to see the air sacs are no longer just sticking out of the overlord; they actually look like a part of it. The Drone mount looks a bit wierd IMO (it's just a sideways grimace inbetween the pincers), but everything else looks fantastic
Bah, the other older zerg models and textures look terrible compared to these new ones . Check out the zergling render. sheesh
Yup, as we're getting closer to the beta, the long awaited Zerg overhaul is proceeding nicely. Although I'm not fully settled with Blizzard's eye fetish.
^ yea, it is a bit annoying. Drone, Overlord, Lurker, Mutalisk....Overseer is somewhat understandable, but I'm pretty sure one could make a unit look Zergish without polkadotting the entire face with little beady eyes.

I think the Drone is a step back, in terms of shape. In the first version, the membranes attached to their... limbs in a way that I really liked... and now they've pulled them back to make it look more spiky.
If you could compare the heat scan of the Drone in SC1 to this Drone, it is the exact shape except with the claw positioning! Perhaps it looked creep-like? Even though they were butterfly wings, I can see where you saw the fitting style -Psi
