Every one understands that for an organic life to exist it has to consume matter that will aid its survival.....

in this sense how does the zerg survive?, ive been asking quite a number of times occassionaly what does the zerg eat for meals?? are they carnivore omni or something else?

Ive made a poll to cast your vote whats your possible belief on this.
Personnally Im assuming photosyntesis like plants lol... only that the creep, provides the necessarry nutrients that the zerg mutant will ever need, complete from vitamins A to Z...

Pick your Poison.. bon a petite!

"Zerg require food and rest like other organic beings. However, they do not require extended hours of sleep and have no set periods of inactivity."

Yup. However, they also appear to live off of nutrients extracted from the creep. Creepivores?

Judging from their biological builds, I'd say carnivores.

Don't they get their nutrients from the creep?

Judging by their mandables and teeth I would have to say that they are Carnivores eating their enemies after slaughter. I'd assume that like a shark, they can survive for quite a while without actually eating something (a few months for sharks), which should be plenty of time between battles, even in times of peace there are still random critters running around. Creep might be able to sustain them for a time but I don't think it would be their source of nutrition. Their teeth are there for more than combat, same with their claws. A creature isn't bred for combat, it's bred for survival. Their claws would be perfect for picking and scraping meat off of bones, much like a birds talons.

All Zerg units have in fact been evolved for combat.

makes me sad for knowing those banelings are born to die.... wow.

If diplomacy has been a part of these game then perhaps we could have seen more humanoid type of zerg species with the ability to comprehend.... then we would have found out all about their secrets,,

The Baneling is a brainless monster created from DNA created to serve then to die.

    No eat the parents

the children are helpless and you get more meat if you get both of them.

The zerg act in a way like bees or termites, but are highly evolved to adapt by assimilating the DNA of other beings.

Also remember bees sacrifice themselves when they sting you so they really aren"t that different from banelings (remember they used to be zerglings).

The zerg hive also has different units that aren"t just for combat such as drones or the queen (shes a defender and a economy unit).

    @gasmaskguy

They may have been evolved for combat purposes but they were evolved from a creature that was meant to survive. In the argument that they do not eat are we suggesting that they don't have a stomach? In that case what other vital organs (from our pov) are they missing? If they didn't eat then there wouldn't be any reason for them to have teeth, just like the protoss. You could say that it's for combat but none of the Zerg attack in that manner, it's always with claws, or something with more reach then their jaws.

thats kind of asking why do banelings of sharp feet or teeth when the just blow up
thats kind of like asking why doesn't a baneling scratch it doesn't blow up it could just scratch the enemy to death

its not what they have to attack with its whats proficient.
