Hello. I think it would be nice if zerglings made some kind of extra damage to range units if they are unburrowed right where the range unit is.

Like a surprising attack? Hmm nice idea. This could be also used at cloacked units, and units attacking from the fog of war.(I mean the undetected ones).

Welcome to the forums - I also think it's a cool idea. They could have the Zerglings slash as they unburrow, gaining an extra attack before they start fighting. It would make burrowed ambushes cooler than they already are!

That's exactly the reason why it's not a good idea.

Would be pretty cool to burrow a lot of zerglings at the entrance to your base and when someone comes you just unburrow them all and do lots of damage.

That might be quite hard to micro as the burrowed units can´t move, to take advantage of that you´d have to guess where your enemy will move/stop.

If you place the zerglings so that they can attack ranged units attacking buildings you will already be at melee range. You can also place the zerglings in a line where you know units will be walking single-file.

yeah, quite a few zerg mechanics in sc1 were not very powerful, regen and burrowing were 2 of them. i'm all for improvements in these mechanics

Burrowing was one of my favorite moves, it lets you hit a group of incoming units like Siege Tanks from point blank and take them apart. Burrowing doesn't need a power up just proper skill with a group of Zerglings.

ah the element of surprise. I think that would be a great idea. It also gives the zerg a little bit of an edge in defense as well, which they need some help on. I think it's a great idea.

If they impliment directional armor then that would give unburrowing anything an edge as it will hit the weak part

Regeneration is good as it is. Maybe they could have an evolution to make it faster for the late games. But I hate that when I attack a bunch of sunkens, and one is almost dead, it regenerates, and when I return I can start from the beginning:) Well When I am with Zerg this is pretty cool.

I think it would be cool upgrade for the zerg burrow ability if the zerg could research an option that allowed them to regen faster while burrowed.

Edit: Or possibly when burrowed into creep.
