Hey there! I never played SC1 online and am only beginning to get how deep it is strategy wise in SC2. When I want to rush early I used to do a 6 pool but it's game over when I'm countered so I cam up with an 8 pool variant and would like ocmments/suggestions. You can tell me if it's utter **** too. I'm in Silver by the way so it's been working a good bit. As usual: 6 drone 7 drone 8 spawning pool 7 drone 8 drone 9 overlord I'm at work so I can't tell you the exact number of units at the time but it's follow up to the overlord above.. 3(6) zerglings... rush when out. Queen... spit larva 3(6) more zergling... rush when out. Overlord zerglings/overlord until it's over. I'm open to any comments, as I said, I won't take it personal if it's really bad... just say it. I just wanna try and get better. Thanks!
The thing is, if you continue to use this strategy and only this strategy. You might pwn some weaker players who don't know how to handle a rush, AKA people who don't scout and have bad micro. But then, you will hit a point against some people who do know how to handle it, and you will lose, because you can not react. I recommend not rushing unless you are on a losing streak and want some stress relief, then again, you might lose to lower level games.
Thanks for the advice. I don't always rush, but it's good fun when I wanna get a couple of games in before work. I'll try to vary my strats a little bit more. What is a good percentage of time to rush? Do you never rush? I rush like 50% or so games. Too high I assume!
8 pool is a viable strategy against zerg. If they go 14 pool - 15 hatch or something similar, your 8 pool will most likely win it for you, especially if you send a drone to create a spine crawler on his creep. Against other races though... the better players will wall off, leaving you with a bunch of useless zerglings and a weak economy. Not as weak an economy as 6 pool, but you will be at a sizable disadvantage nonetheless.
