hey guys, your friendly neighboorhood spammer here, jiffdrie. i come to you today to protest against spam/ad bots, these bots ruïn the work of our old-fashioned spammers. To battle this pr0n posting pestilence we need more moderators in other timezones, maybe kuvasz could be mod, he is always online during bot hours(for me it is 9AM-12AM)

Thanks for the mention guys, but my activity's likely to plummet in a couple of days, and for just over a year. I'm in the middle of holidays at the moment, which is why I've been so active, so I'll be back at school soon, meaning I won't be able to be on late or during the day. Not to mention that it's going to be year 12, which's proving to be quite time-consuming.

So yeah, not this time for me, I'd say. In fact, I was thinking of letting someone else take over Social and Other Discussion as well. Although everyone who's been listed would definitely a good choice, I'd have to say I personally think Meee would be the best choice. I have no clue how I was chosen over him.

That said, although having more mods would help, the simplest way to crack down on these porn advertisements specifically would be to add something to stop bots registering.

It might've had something to do with lack of contribution, constructive posts and logical thought. Oh and possibly with all the spamming.

As if you need any of that to mod Social and Other Discussion. If anything those should have gone in your favour, haha.

they always get past them, they even use people to get past the verification and email registration.

I'm probably not the best candidate either, unless the bots stop or a mod gets on around now, you'd be left without for my sleepy time.

i finish school this year. So next year (depends if i go college/uni/further study), i might be pretty free.

But i too, am not probably the best candidate either. Everyone sees me as a little blue megaman kid in this forums lol.
and yes, using artificial bot stopping wont stop a bot to try to get through it and pr0n away.

I do not think there is a need for another global moderator, however one order of a section moderator must be served. I am not too sure how the registration for the forum goes now since it is vBulletin but might I suggest installing a better ANTI-SPAM/BOT modification such as enhanced CAPTCHA image verification and more visual notifications.

It will be slightly annoying to register another account but I believe that it's better for everybody in the long run.

Could perhaps something be implemented so that if a post or thread gets reported two or three times it's deleted? It could at least be soft deleted, and then the mods could physically remove it when they're online.

That's a really good idea Itza. It would help keep the forum cleaner while not giving the busy mods much more work. I really like the idea.

Thanks, but who knows if it's something that could actually be implemented?

Or maybe, instead of implementing more global mods, give 5 or so members not all the regular mod powers but the option to soft detele threads.

I sometimes am on when there's posts and topics to be reported.

...I wish I kept track of how many bots I sometimes catch when I press Unread Posts and a new topic comes up that's bot-related.

well, because of time issues, mods really cant delete and mod stuff during sleepy time
in comes the wonders of timezones, if theyre asleep, im awake :)

and ive encountered numerous "BAAAAAD THREADS" and much worse is that theyre posting it on the general section

and cant you (itza) moderate the thread?
    or are you a demi-god?

    why is kurai a goddess?

whats happening to the forums :(

Well if it's general section I don't think I'd help much, since I hardly ever visit sc2 boards :D
Sure, I'd try if I was a mod, but anyway, I may lose a lot of my already limited time soon, so now's not a good time to pick me for anything.

I think we should go for section mods instead of more globals, though I wonder if letting members moderate their own threads would work.
