Like Warcraft and Battle for Middle-Earth 2 there's a neutral building that can possess/take over if the unit come close near the tower. Like both game it will benefit and taking advantage to player if the player take over the tower. since we all know how to take over the tower but what is the benefit/advantage of taking over the tower? I don't know yet but from the Battle Report there's always a battle for taking over the tower but I don't see (yet) the benefit of the tower since the video didn't eleborate/explain much of the usage of the tower.
It increases the sight range around it. A lot. You can use this advantage to see the enemy far before he sees you, so you can prepare better. Obviously, that gives the player a chance to counter before the opponent has even attacked yet. But, erm, the name of the Tower is pretty clear imo...
The Tower has a different skin for each tileset. The old -other, to be exact- model should still be in the game as far as I know.
Blizzard mentioned before that they were going to give it a new look, so I am not so sure about that. There's like 10 - 20 tilesets after all.
Theres Xel N'aga watch tower? Where? It appeared Screenshots or in concept art? Edit: nvr mind i found it: http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Watch_tower I didn't think they would include neutral interactive entities. This is pretty good.
Well, there are like, hundreds of doodads. I doubt that about 15 extra would be that much. There will only be 1 type per map anyway. -assuming official maps only use 1 tileset, instead of a mix of 2 or more-
Why dammit!? Why can't those guys finish the Zerg death animations instead?! Anyways, I don't buy it. Why would the design change on different tilesets? The Terran building designs don't. I can understand that there might be several different models for it, but people will mix them however they want, so I don't see the point of making one for each tileset.
??? I'm sure I saw it somewhere today, on this site, but it fails to show up in a search. I could look in my post history of today, but I'm to lazy. Meh, just forget about it.
Thanks for the info you all too bad the watch tower aren't permanent for the player though, like capture it. it seem that the watch tower only activate if there's a unit near that tower
Yeah it'd be pretty cool if it was something you could capture and just leave alone afterwards, until an opponent's unit captures it maybe?
I dont think they are all that cool its nothing a scount cant see but i guess from watching the two battle reports that the watchtower is very important in winning or lossing a battle
You know what caught my eyes? That its name on the information panel (as seein in the Battle report) is written like "Xel'Naga Watch T..." It bothered my eyes so much.. I know it is not essential, but please.. It has a long name, but whatever. They shall write it out.
Speaking of different looks for different tilesets...Blizzard said a while back they would consider different models for buildings on different tilesets. The example used was that a rax would have snow on top of it in an arctic world. Anyone hear any more on that? Also 10-20 different tilesets? That can't be even close to what the game will ship with. We had what, 6-8 in SC:BW?
