Ok so long story short last night I was playing 1v1 with protoss against terran. While I was destroying his base in the beginning little did i know he snuck off and was building another. I had void rays plus some stalkers and zealots at this time. By the time I found his second base he had it surrounded by those torrents... they seem to kill void rays very easily. So i built some more void rays as well as carriers. the carriers seemed to help out but I could only kill a few torrets then have to get more units and by that time he had MORE torrets... I was offense the whole time and all he did was build these torrets, expand his base, and build more... by the end of the game we each had like three bases. I finally built a few immortals and I THINK these are better against the torrents? But by that time it had already been an hour and a half! and he just gave up and left lol... so what are actually good against these? Was the most annoying game...
well i'm not sure what map it was called but for the first base they cblocked themselves in so had to use air there... and then on the second base it was only accesible by air so had to use air there too but good to know for the future! So they can't hit any ground units?
nope, turrets are anti air only. one thing to consider doing is use your air units to keep the turrets busy while you drop in ground troops. once troops are on the ground, get your air units out of there to save what you can.
Carriers. They have longer range than turrets. The only thing the turrets can hit are interceptors, but those can be quickly rebuilt if you have 8+ carriers.
ok so if you tell a carrier to attack a turret will it automatically attack from that range or will it get too close? Also I was just setting them to attack the middle of the base which would of been another problem of mine haha... im not too great at this game yet!
Units in Starcraft 2 which are out of range when ordered to attack, will always attack from as far away as possible.
when you talk about warp prism do you mean the warp gate and a pylon or what actually does the warp prism do
Upgrade your gateways to warp gates to have more units available to warp in, build a Warp prism with the robotics facility, get it near the turrets but try to out-range them or it will be shot down, then get it to phasing mode, it's like a mobile pylon, and you can warp the guys from the warp gates to this warp prism radius thingy.
The phasing mode is to transform the warp prism in a pylon-like structure, so you can warp your forces in with the warp gates without having to build a physical pylon in your oponents base, it's mobile, and you can always phase-out and go away, haha No problem with the questions mate.
