game under development by black sea studios, looks similar to starcraft, what do you guys think? http://www.worldshift-game.com/mambots/content/mos_bss_player.swf?my_movie=http://www.worldshift-game.com/images/stories/videos/trooper.flv&autoStart=1&loops=1&contr=1
what i like about it is its realistic environment, unlike in starcraft 2 the trees and buildings are in the right proportions and there are nice weather affects, it gives a more intimate and rpgish feel. not quite sure, there isn't much info available, here's a basic description DARK FUTURE LIES AHEAD In the 21st century, shortly after the colonization of our Solar System had begun, a huge dark object appeared beyond the orbit of Pluto. The object, called ‘Shard Zero’ by the scientists, possessed some kind of a deadly aura, spreading mysterious ‘plague’ of cosmic scale around itself, twisting and disrupting the very nature of space and life. There was no time for reaction, and all attempts to study the anomaly remained futile. When we finally realized the object is moving on a collision course with our planet, it was too late. Shard Zero hit Earth and that was the end of our civilization. WorldShift is set thousands of years later, when our civilization is no more than a fading myth. The remains of Shard Zero still are spreading its Plague, twisting and re-shaping Earth and its nature, sometimes in the course of centuries and sometimes in a matter of hours. Humans developed a new culture and now live in 5 mega-cities, struggling every day for the precious resources they need to survive. The rest of Earth is populated by the Tribes, successors of early humans, that were affected by the Plague. A NEW TAKE ON STRATEGY WorldShift is a next-gen cyber-fantasy RTS game designed to be quick and very easy to learn and play. It offers hectic, fierce encounters all around the Earth and a fascinating story uncovering ancient secrets about the true nature of the Shard and the Plague. But also, WorldShift introduces many features new to the genre, like modifiable factions, unqiue cooperative multiplayer gameplay, and more. ITEMS, RELICS AND THE ABILITY GRID In WorldShift, there are no technology trees featuring hundreds of upgrades; instead, WorldShift allows the players to discover and acquire a vast number of items and powerful relics that they can use to freely change their gameplay and preferred tactics and to surprise their foes. The players will gather items as they fight their opponents and as rewards for completing missions. But to discover the most powerful relics, they must form teams with their most trusted friends and embark on deadly missions where it is difficult to survive and where the real challenges await.
i first thought that this threads name was "WorldShit" lol.... btw @Reaker.... "unlike in starcraft 2 the trees and buildings are in the right proportions" i totally lol´d at that one, because right under you had posted a picture showing a bunch of marines shooting at a 40 foot marine^.^ (I know it is not a tree or a building, but for godsake! it is more important that units keeps the proportions rather than the trees )
@maskmaskguy, i don't think the giant robot thing is a marine, the game can have as big units as they like i was simply commenting on the fact the trees are in the correct proportions which give a totally different feeling to the game than a game like stacraft
yes, i know, but i think that they could have made that giant robot look more like a giant robot and not like a giant marine, ´cause aside from the size, they look REALLY similar. It would be like having ultralisks looking like giant zerglings-not very creative. btw "@maskmaskguy" are you insulting me?
Can you say 'High Templar' ?
I believe Dustin Browder once mentioned they were going to upgrade the StarCraft II engine, I'm personally hoping it's going to look something like this. It retains some saturated colors but without looking dated.
I am sorry but this doesn't sound like StarCraft at all. Yes, it's in the future; yes, there are infantry units; yes, it is an RTS, but the similarities stop there. They way the've described it, it sounds like they're trying to make a game that playes like Diablo, except with each player controling several units instead of one character. Instead of being a hacker with RPG elements, it'll be a hacker with RTS elements....and maybe some RPG elements. Interesting.
Right now it looks really good, but to me it seems like a mix of DoW, Warcraft, Starcraft, and some RPGs. If they make it well, it'll be great but if not, then it'll absolutely suck. I'd still keep up to date on it. Looks really interesting.
