I'm currently taking time off of playing SC so I'm going to be working on a SC logo/icon/picture that will likely take me many days/weeks to fully finish. I hope to make the text appealing, as well as show all 3 races(each having thier own 3rd of the background), and hopefully a transparent image of kerri/jimmy/tassadar to go with each race. Going to take all my skill with paint.net as well as likely figure out a few things I haven't yet in order to be successful at it. Current image after ~4 hours of work: 2 hours later:
Do those time spans include coming up with the concept and/or changing it as you proceed? I find myself thinking about the concept a lot more than the time I spend actually working so if it does, it's fair. If it doesn't, I think you should get to know the program you're using better and learn some theory first. Where can you picture this logo? Will this be a standalone image like the SC2 wallpaper or part of something?
What's Adobe Illustrator? I've never heard of it. Time span incluse ideas, put most is actually working on it because I have to color each pixel separeatly because since the colors are so close to eachother, the paint option colors all the rows the same color inctead of just the row I want. As for where i picture it, not 100% sure yet. It's just something I decided to do in my free time but will probably be part of something. As for the pets, I haven't worked on then recently. As for redoing the font, I doubt Ill do that, as it would require me to recolor each letter all over again.
The red seems a bit out of place on the STAR of Starcraft. But the Raynor and Kerrigan are a nice touch.
That Last one looks very good!! Maybe you should make the raynor and kerrigan a bit transparent if possible and add Tassadar in Maybe you should have all 3 races fighting against each other then put their Leader over their units? Good Work!
If it took 2 hours to get from image 1 to image 2, you must be working terribly inneficiently. That should've taken like... 5 minutes. Edit: Ah... paint.net. If you're working with vectors, you want to be using Adobe Illustrator. I prefer bitmap, so I use Photoshop.
thats 2 hours working on/off. I'd do some, then watch a vid, work on it some more, etc. EDIT: also, i was fairly new to paint.net, and didnt know how to toggle how sensitive the paint option was, so I did every pixel using the pencil.
maybe you should have a picture of the races fighting with their colors like Terran: Blue Zerg: purple Protoss: yellow or something then having a tripod transparent of Raynor, Kerrigan and Zeratul behind their units and maybe you should change what it says to just STARCRAFT and make the color teal it looks good as teal. just suggestions and hope they help.
Maybe you should use photoshop, I think its easier to use, but paint.net is still good Also, in the last pic, how did you get the 3 bases of each race next to each other without them killing each other? Looks like a hard task.
I'm not willing to spend money to get photoshop, can't afford it anyways. All 3 bases are mine, I took different screen shots from different games to get them.
Oh ok, you could just download Photoshop by bittorrent? Its quite easy..I downloaded it in an hour or less. My friend downloaded the new Adobe CS4 package for free which is worth $5000!!
