I think the title pretty much describes what I want to ask...Will those people that use linux be able to play out of the box, or will something like Wine have to be used?
My guess is that Wine will need to be used. However, don't take my words as canon, it's entirely possible for it to come Linux ready.
well, it could be anything as of now but, i dont really seem much famous programs supporting linux. anything could happen now that windows vista being crappy and that some people are moving to linux.
Blizzard does not state anything about Linux support. So I would highly doubt you will be able to install it directly on to Linux you probably have to use wine as Fenix said.
Blizzard is a microsoft going company they like to ignore everyone else, no you wont be able to play it straight out of the box . But you most likely will be able to use something like wine to play SC2
Blizzard is the only gaming company I can think of that supports mac users; always at launch I do believe. But isn't linex really just popular for running servers as far as gaming goes? B net obviously negates any need for such a thing with SC2.
I would think they wouldn't have Linux support, though I'm sure Mac will be there. I don't think there's a big enough Linux gaming market for them to warrant time and money developing that side of the entire game/bnet.
There are lotsof ideas here!!!!!!!!! but people seem to be very casual with this site!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any body interested in a joint venture ? I got some stuff to share
Not the case. They support OS X. Blizzard just do not see there being enough potential linux users who want to play SC2 natively on linux. And for that reason alone there will probably be no native support for SC2 of linux. And secondly which distro of linux are you talking about? That just complicates matters even more.
I suspect that we will most likely be forced into using Wine--but if Starcraft II is anywhere near as popular as WoW was, we can probably expect fairly seamless support. It sure would be nice if some big titles were released with Linux support, though.
