Might be a bit weird to ask but, since SC1 came out in 1995 (BW doesn't count, its only an expansion), and SC2 is believed by pretty much 99% of fans to come out 2009, would it be possible for SC3 to be out in 2022 or around that date?

Also, why would SC2 come out so late anyways? I mean in its own way 14 years = a lot of changes = a lot of disagreements between fans, wouldn't it be better if SC series were to come out say once every 3-5 years?

Some other questions unrelated to topic but I'd make it here so I don't have to make 4 other threads.
*Don't wanna beat on a dead topic but, SC2 (before the darker graphic touch up) does NOT look WoW'ish, it looks more Red Alert 3 'ish and that's a great RTS. Do people just find dumb reasons to bash on WoW?

*Another weird question, do Koreans (the pro gamer ones) actually play the Campaign in SC1 whether they understand it or not? Boxer said in his biography that he didn't know how to build other units besides zealots for a long time so I assume he didn't play campaign.

*Do you get to play zerg/toss in skirmish with Wings of Liberty? Sorry I keep getting mixed opinions.

*Wouldn't it be easier if for ability selection it's hotkeys would be 1, 2, 3, 4 instead of being all over the keyboard like a, e, i, o, u? Or, can you change settings for keys? I prefer the arrow keys on asdw instead.

*How long will beta testing be? Since Blizzard spent 2 years balancing, creating, refining the game you'd think they wouldn't need a beta.

This is all assuming the story isn't wrapped up in the Protoss campaign or the possible SC2 expansion.

We have no idea if there will even be a SC3. My guess is that not even Blizzard has solid plans for 13 years into the future.

It's not really "late" -they started working on it after WC3 was released, and didn't really get into it until early 2007. They didn't release SC1 with SC2 already planned, or anything like that. Rather, they went from SC1 to WC3. They also mentioned waiting for the appropriate technology becoming available.

Yes, they do. We have a few of them on this site, even. (They know who they are.)

I think whether a player plays the campaign or not varies from person-to-person in Korea, just like it does everywhere else.

You won't be forwarding the Zerg/Protoss storylines, but you'll likely get to play with units and structures belonging to the other races at some point in the Terran campaign.

The numbers are reserved for control groups, so that wouldn't work. It probably would make sense to cluster the hotkeys in one place, or have some sort of meaningful structure beyond the actual letter. I know that other strategy games have adopted this practice (for example, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Spore have shockingly straightforward hotkey systems.) From what I know, however, it looks like keys will be mapped in a manner similar to SC1.

I don't think we know if hotkeys will be re mappable or not, maybe someone else can correct me if I'm mistaken.

Of course. All races will be playable in multi player. The Wings of Liberty campaign will focus on you controlling Raynor's Raiders, but SC2 and its two expansions will come with a mini campaign each, featuring a second race for a handful of missions. In the end, when all games / expansions have been released, each race will have one long and one short campaign.

SC1 came out March 1998, so that puts your maths right out :)

I think the team will do something inbetween SC 2 and 3, presumably a new IP. I wouldnt hold my breath...:D

I doubt that they intentionaly left an 11 year gap.
    Who knows!
I'd love a new game, not that I'm not satisfied with Diablo, WC and SC

Cool thanks for the replies, I just hope the zerg/toss skirmish being in Wings of Liberty is true.

    @Lori
My math isnt off, my information is off. I think your comprehension is off =D

Generally you need more than 2 sets of data ti form a pattern. ;)

    o rly?

According to your maths, there was a 14 year gap between SC1 and SC2, and then a possible 13 year gap between SC2 and SC3.

I have just realised that your logic didn't make much sense in the beginning, so my comprehension is completely and utterly useless :D

Yeah because I thought it was released in 95 so my math is technically right, not my info >=\
