They havn't mentioned it before but i doubt they would use it. Battlenet 2.0 should be able to cover anything GFWL would do.

If SCII would have GFWL, would that mean it's a (crappy) vista-only game?

Ok thanks guys, I hope they stick to battlenet for sure.

  8. Games For Windows Live. If StarCraft II implemented this it would mean it would be a Vista exclusive and "could" be charged monthly. They've mostly removed the monthly fee for PC but you never know.

But, to answer the topic, StarCraft II WILL NEVER BE A GFWL GAME!!!

If they wanted to I think microsoft would let them do a games for windows live edition of the game and a normal edition for those who are uninterested in GFWL. As an Xbox Live user I would love to see the option of having the game linked with the live network, but it will never happen because Blizzard will want to just stick with the new battle.net setup.

I also wouldn't mind a steam version of the game so I could use it in conjunction with the steam community, but again, probably not gonna happen. But it's at least more likely.

    *sigh*

GfWL is a failure, has been right from the start. Way to many people who want to stick with Windows XP. And as others stated, why the hell use such a crappy system when you have the best system yourself? Nothing beats battle.net. Not even the first edition, and certainly not 2.0.

Also, using GfWL would require the whole online system to be seperated from Mac users. Never thought about that, eh? No worries, GfWL will never mess with Starcraft 2, or somebody at Blizzard will be ritually killed by the fans... XD

Let me reiterate, I know this won't actually happen, but....

There's no reason you couldn't use battle.net while connected to the live community, as long as blizzard allowed a GFWL version of the game to be made.

  12. Actually, yes, GFWL would limit Battle.net. Severely.

Allow me to repeat something. The only thing you need to read to know the answer.

They didn't spend all that time making a b.net 2.0 just to use GFWL

  14. Damn straight :D

It can be non intrusive, it doesn't have to affect battle.net one damn bit except allowing you to hit a button to bring up your live friends list and allow you to interact with the live community.

  17. No, Games For Windows is a proprietary title that has many requirements that it would impose on StarCraft 2 if it were to carry the name. Windows wouldn't give the title to a game that only has as minimalistic of a features set as you're example. Basically, in order for StarCraft II to carry the title of Games For Windows Live it would have to have certain features. These features are a requirement and any game that does not have them is denied the title. I suggest you read up on some of these requirements because some of them would definitely interfere with Battle.net. One of the biggest offenders that is common is the dreaded Vista exclusive. Another one is that you would have to connect to Windows Live THEN to Battle.net which could cause many problems.

This won't happen because Battle.net 2.0 is self sustaining.

I know it wouldn't happen! It was a hypothetical scenario! Wishful friggen thinking!

  19. You said it could be non-intrusive. If it was as limited as you're saying then Microsoft wouldn't give the title to StarCraft II. Therefore, it's intrusive or nothing.
