Why is Diamond league neccesary?

I'm sure i'm missing something here because I know Blizz wouldn't do work for nothing. But why did they remove Copper league and put in Diamond? As far as I can see there are still 5 ladders, ranging from top skilled to bottom skilled. I'm definitely missing something here.

 

I'm not sure, but I guess it's because they couldn't think of an icon for copper league that didn't scream "these guys are sooooooo nooby lmao!!".

 

Penny league. LAWL.

They got rid of Copper because there was too much confusion between it and Bronze league. They were the same colors. I assume Diamond will be a white badge.

 

Ego issues. They don't want copper league players to feel bad about themselves. IMO they should just do this:

4. Elite
5. Infinite


Yea. I'm in the Infinite League, Elite is nothing.

If they wanted to name a league after a gemstone, they should have called it the khaydarin league, not the diamond league.

 

but how does the khaydarin rank against the uraj and khalis?

 

SInce nobody can enter the Chuck Norris league except Chuck Norris. That makes any leagues past that pointless. Plus the Chuck Norris league is the best league no matter what.

Seriously I think the leagues should go like this if they don't want a copper:

Bronze
Silver
Gold
Titanium
Platinum

DIamond though fancy sounding is the odd one out as it's a precious gemstone and not a metal.

Just name the leagues after the #1 player of the division. I'll bite the bullet for the team and have pro league named after me

 

I think it's because the skill difference in Platinum players was pretty spread out.

It's not really hard to get Plat, you just have to be a good player, but the best players in the world will still be with people who are just good.

As for getting rid of the Copper league, it seems that only very, very new players stay in it, and quickly graduate, making it somewhat useless. The players are in and out of the Copper league too quickly.

 

everyone complaining about how diamond isn't a metal DOES realize that the rankings are pretty much based on valuable materials, right? you know, bronze < silver < gold < platinum < diamond? continuing the theme, we could get up to plutonium and antimatter.

 

then on to anti-time! the most valuable of all time.

 

They are all Khaydarin crystals.

But does it matter even if they weren't?

It's not like every metal is represented either, else we'd have to wonder about how the Tungsten and Cobalt Leagues rank.

 

I just finished my placement games and the icon was literally a blue diamond with some light (white) reflecting off the top.

 

I think they must have made things easier, because this time I ranked straight into the platinum league, whereas before I was winning about half of my bronze-level games. My opponents didn't seem that great (my only loss was a cannon rush, of all things). Even if platinum is the new gold, this seems like a hell of a jump. Maybe all the good players are going 2v2.
