    That he's evil. Also:

At the end of the last Zeratul mission, you see him kill all non Hybrid Zerg, so he's not really a great leader for them. :/

The Overmind is the Zerg becoming conscious of itself. He's the man. Is this even up for discussion? :p

I voted for Kerrigan. While the Overmind is all knowing and seems a tad more organized and efficient in his efforts of genocide, Kerrigan has the whole communication thing down. As in she is a bit more skilled at harassing her Terran and Protoss enemies, psychological warfare and all. Also I found her a lot more tolerable in the campaigns than a giant eye that talked like a pseudo-King James bibble.

Of course. It also requiers being wise, smart and cunning; traits which Kerrigan had in Brood War, but apperantly lost in Starcraft 2.

Kerrigan or Maar, although the latter is dead.

Both can interact with enemies, not just their own kind, and this was key to Kerrigan's victory in the Brood War (manipulating her enemies). Both are mobile. Both can fight. That makes for cooler heroes, although neither is strictly required.

    Overmind.

I can't help but feel Kerrigan has proved herself a terrible inefficient tactician and strategist; in BW the cerebrate was largely responsible for her major victories (and it seems she later killed that cerebrate along with all the rest)

Kerrigan's 'evolution' of the swarm seems somewhat beneficial but has proven to have some drawbacks; the overlords are no longer detectors, which was really useful (even if not for gameplay balance) and the zerg lost alot of their anti-air capabilities; Mutalisks served better for evolving into the 'seige' unit of the zerg, corrupters are their only dedicated anti-air units but they would be lost in the creation of broodlords, which lose that anti-air defence.

As for Maar, I can't really say; he never commanded zerg and in combat he seemed far more personal... he seemed more a follower, not a leader.

However, the one choice that seems left out... Daggoth.

    Overmind.

It was a cunning and calculating giant brain monster that didn't have the temper tantrums Kerrigan did, and it always knew its goal.

    Overmind hands down.

    1) It was a freakin' blob. Nuff said.
    2) In case #1 SOMEHOW did not convince you, that guy spoke like a "pseudo King James Bible"
    3) The Overmind became conscious and sentient.
    4) The Overmind has "The" attached to its name.
    5) The Overmind is cute.
    6) The Overmind came extremely close to obliterating the most powerful species in the galazy (yes I think Toss > Zerg in SC1)
    7) The Overmind can open gigantic wormholes.
    8) The Overmind embedded itself in the crust of a planet.
    9) The Overmind saw into the future.
    10) The Overmind was a structure.

Unfortunately the Overmind wasn't capable of direct attacks =(

With everything said about the Overmind, he still only came close to the victory that Kerrigan did achieve.

Kerrigan was able to truely manipulate and play the events to unfold as she desired and become the Queen Bitc* of the Universe which is way cooler.

I mean where else did you see all the viable powers of the sector - mortal enemies of each other - join forces against one women and her pets?

The poor Overmind couldn't even handle the aiur protoss after a civil war aided by a small group of rebels (though apperantly nobody can handle the unstopable Raiders that whooped Kerrigan's as* twice in SC 2).

Oh but how could I forget the Overmind (AKA mama tereza) didn't loose. Oh no. He sacrificed himself so he could save the universe. Yep. I think I'll go bang my head on the wall and then run brood war again.

Overmind actually seems to care about the zerg (well it is its collective conscience) Kerrigen and maar just uses them for power.

Kerrigan did that because she had short-term goals, which makes the feat much less amazing. The Overmind saw past what Kerrigan would comprehend and tried to manipulate the universe more to its preferences. That being said, Kerrigan is also a tool of the Overmind. It created her, and possibly changed her mentality and personality a bit with the infestation, as to complete his own goals. I forgot the Toss part of the campaign, but what if the Overmind's goal was truly to die so that Kerrigan could rule? (Idk how it would work tho)
    So, the Overmind > Kerrigan
