Who wants the Valkyrie back?

Instead of the Predator or another AtA idea, should Blizzard just bring back the Valkyrie? It seems like a fine solution, although it was a little underused in SC.

 

If it was under used in sc why bring it back, Predator is the right idea with a new mechanic.

 

Maybe they could keep the general idea but introduce a new ability.

 

Do you honestly want the Valkyrie back?
Plus it would kinda make the Phoenix weak since the Phoenix has to risk death if its spread attack don't work. Whereas the Valkyrie just does it including splash damage.

Just because the Phoenix's ability to deal Area of Effect damage has a downside, it doesn't mean that the Valkyrie can't have an Area of Effect attack. The Phoenix's Overload is powerful because instead of dealing concentrated damage to one target, it deals the same amount of damage to six targets, pretty much sextupling its damage output. If the Valkyrie were to be given an Area of Effect attack it obviously wouldn't be as powerful as the Phoenix's Overload, so it wouldn't make the Phoenix look weak.
Also, the reason it wasn't used in StarCraft1 was because it was expensive and fairly weak on their own. In order for them to deal effective Area of Effect damage, they needed to be in numbers and attacking clustered enemies. They could easily be fixed in StarCraft2 with the new damage system, making them deal more against light armored units, etc.

Why would you want a Air-to-Ground Valkyrie? Terran already have the Banshee for Air-to-Ground. The Terran need specialized Air-to-Air fighters, they don't need yet another unit that can attack both.

Agreed. Plus, not only do they have the Banshee, they also have the Viking. Which makes my Eagle perfect!

The Valkyrie wasn't powerful enough in StarCraft1, which was why it wasn't used too much. If it were to be brought back in StarCraft2 it would obviously be buffed. They wouldn't bring in a unit that they know isn't going to be used. Basically, no matter which one they implement, they'll need to be just as powerful as the other one, otherwise it wouldn't add up. If anything, if the Predator comes back with its Intercept ability it would be weaker than the Valkyrie because the Valkyrie doesn't have an ability.

 

I loved the Valkyrie! It was the BOMB! please give it back, or at least include it in the mapeditor!
