Hi, I play zerg most but I never like rushing, rather teching up and realized that a zerg player won't survive through that style (unless he is super good, which I am not) so I decided to start rushing strategies. I tried 7 pool rush and it seems to work pretty well, but is there a another pool rush that has the best ratio of speed and efficiency in resource? (like pumping out units fast but not screwing yourself over with super low income if your rush fails) This is my current build order: 6: all 6 drones harvest 7: make drone 6: morph spawn pool 7: make drone 8: zergling 9: zergling 10: zergling + overlord 12: queen 13+: zerglings + overlord Thanks in advance.
well, the thing with the rush is that it is pretty much an all or nothing. if you do not go all in, you are not likely to suceed against even a moderate player. (a terran with a bunker with only two marines is gonna kill 6 lings) So, you go all in, a 6 drone rush, or not at all, build pool much later
this works in 2v2 if you have an ally doing the same, i do this often and in 3v3 and it wins 60% of the time, you should start developing new strats such as an expand or tech strat
The very fastest that I ever build my pool is at 10, and recently I've been shifting to more of a 13pool. It depends a lot on map size for me, if I'm close I can usually get a crippling rush out of my 10pool. But if it's too far for a rush, I'll usually slow things down and focus more on income with a 13pool. Both good, but any less or more would leave you too all-in, or too exposed, respectively.
get gas before your pool at 11, pool at 12, upgrade your ling speed... make at least a dozen speed lings and rush in with a run-by. against protoss its more effective, because there should always be an opening for you to run in - go for the pylons and workers against terran, you might need a baneling nest and break the entrance and then run in against zerg, run in, kill the queen and workers most effective rush when it comes to playing higher tier players.
