When an ally leaves the game, I have control over his units and if I build his unites, I will use my minerals. But I wonder if I mine/gas with his units, do I get them ?
Yes, the only issues are 1) you can't send him resources and 2) you can't see his resources, so you have to sort of guess how much minerals/gas is actually available to you. If you have an ally that leaves/disconnects early it is often best to use them, at least initially, as a resource bot, and try to cripple/eliminate one of the opponents with a tech or rush based strategy since you can produce it much faster than normal, basically overwhelming one of them. I still wouldn't neglect to slowly build up infrastructure in your partners base, so you have flexibility and can switch to pumping units out there if need be.
this has proven very advantageous in some games as it boosts your economy alot and it allows you not to have to tech twice vs if both players were in game, although you must strike quick before the enemy overpowers you, in these games iw ill usually begin to powerdrone his base, getting as much guys on the minerals while teching up in my own base getting multi gates or racks, this is vital as you want to be able to reiforce and attack in mass. if they are smart they will attack you immediately or take out one of yoru mineral lines.
That is wrong. when an ally leaves all of his recources go to you and then there is one resource tab for you and your allies base. It is good to have his base mining so that you have double income. The teching up you do is not shared with your allies units, for his marauders to get concusive shells you need to do it twice, once for yours and once for his. as the guy above said what you have to do is attack fast before they overpower you. You should consider build defenses to protect your allies base so that the mining rate is not affected but i dont recomend spending too much time training units. but thats my opinion
The biggest problem with teching up and building with both bases is it requires a VERY high APM to do so. Can get very tiring trying to control both bases at once. lol And just remember, all the units you make from your ex-teamates base count torwards your food, even if they are a different race. No more having 200/200 Protoss and 200/200 T/Z armies. =P
As has been pointed out, this is incorrect. You CAN spend your partner's minerals after they leave game. You are thinking of the "Shared control" checkbox. When using that, you can't spend your partner's minerals, train units, or build buildings, even though you can move their units around.
No, I'm not thinking about that. You're confused about which part of my post was apparantly incorrect. Which I'm still confused about since I'm fairly certain I've had only my resources on display, which makes me wonder if it is something else they've changed (wouldn't be the first time).
Has anyone else noticed you can't repair your partners units? (Terran wise) I tried before the new patch and it wouldn't let me repair the Thor. -.- Was pissed.
Food actually is not shared. You can have a 200/200 army of your own and an ally's 200/200. However, you can't see your ally's food, you have to wait for the "build more pylons" message to get a clue.
