Do they have limited time/range or what? They seem OP?

If you retreat the unit being targeted, the missile will crash after a certain amount of time.

And it will do no damage if it hits nothing. Afaik, of course. You can never be sure if Blizzard changed anything lately. It all goes so fast. :s

So... does it mean that even if there are other potential foes nearby....the HSM only pursues the initially targeted unit?

It chases that single unit, so technically you could send that one unit running for the hills (good luck finding which unit is targeted, perhaps there should be some kind of indication?).

It's also limited by the Nighthawk's energy and a 15 second timer.

Considering the HSM apparently hurts your own units as well as an enemies, if you knew what unit was targeted you could potentially return the HSM to its sender.

That's true LordKerwyn. But that also means that unit has a higher chance of getting killed. I don't know if it affects air units. The missile doesn't move very fast. Check the Battle Report 2. It shows it in action.

The HSM actually killed one of the Nighthawks in the BR2 according to Karune.

Units that can attack air should be able to shoot and destroy it.

Making the HSM targetable would be great... imagine the Nighthawk launch a HSM which directly explodes on himself because you shot the missile directly when it went out :D..... *** thinking about some fun strategies ***

If in fact it explodes and damages stuff when it gets shot down is up to balance.

I think the Nighthawk that got destroyed by its own HSM was standing way too close when firing it off. The HSM does a sprint when close enough, like a charging Zealot. I can't see how a unit can run under a HSM all the way to the opposite side of Terran units without already setting off the HSM charge and die half way there.

I agree with you Gasmaskguy. That's probably what happened.
