I've heard alot about the editer, ok, I heard that there are going to be the units from starcraft1 and 2 in it so and that you can also change the tech tree like if you wanted to make a Golith you could make it I wonder though if they with remake the texture of the old units are have them looking...1998ish well thats all new things: scraped units will be in the editer there is actually a rumor that all SC1 units will be in there not for sure but some will be in the editer and the campaign post your comments and things you would like to change about the editer.
don't know about rearanging the tech tree. I do know it would be possible to receate SC1 with the new graphics, which is likely going to be one of the first big things to appear from the editor into multiplayer.
you sure? it was my understanding that all units in SC1 but not SC2 would be in the editor, as well as the units scrapped when SC2 units were in development.
My understanding is that all abilities/buildings/units from SC1 will be in the editor, and everything that has been scrapped from SC2 thus far will be available in the editor (with model updates, of course).
Thus far I'm extremely excited about the editor it sounds like a blast and complete customization for anything you could want, it's giving the answers to all the questions but they are doing it the right way and keeping it out of the campaign and putting it into the editor so that way everyone is happy and no one is upset that a certain style ruined the story or gameplay.
Well it sounds a lot more complicated. I think of myself as fairly good with StarEdit, but I can barely understand WorldEdit. Best thing - you can create new units from current graphics (e.g. have 2 Zealots different) Also, I hear there are inventories and items now.
All scrapped units and abilities will be in the editor. This includes the original Black Hole. There's a rumor floating around that all StarCraft I units will be in the editor. There's no source to the rumor that I've seen. Some units will be available (the medic and goliath, for instance) and, indeed, in the campaign. (I believe Karune said that only units that will be in the campaign somewhere will be in the editor, suggesting that the first statement has become outdated, or that there will be a lot of easter eggs). You can change around the tech tree, changing where units are created, what the requirements are, adding new buildings and new units and taking them away as you feel like. You can do this in Warcraft III.
If the map editor in Starcraft 2 is gonna be anything like the one that came with Warcraft 3, you will be able to edit every aspect of the game even unit models and textures. There are some custom maps in Warcraft 3 that have all custom models, and even custom game mechanics etc. I don't know if they could even improve the map editor for Starcraft 2, all they would have to do is give you all the options you had in the warcraft 3 one, cuz basically it let you edit everything.
If you can do it in world edit, you can do it in starcraft 2's editor. Actually pancake. models and texturing could not only be changed to an existing file, they had to be edited/created in a third party program. I hope starcraft 2 doesn't use some whacked out file format for models that you can't get a free/reasonably priced editor of *coughageofempires3cough*
The latter is true. It's never been confirmed that all the units from the original StarCraft have been remade & put into the editor.
it has been stated that it will. And i love that. i played a custom game once that played a lot like an FPS.
Player did a very thorough article about the map editor, actually. I don't think any new info has been revealed since this came out. Check out page three.
