To me, music is quite possibly the best way of getting a message across. It can unite, and can enrage, it can empower, and convey so many other emotions and thoughts to the listener. Here are some of my favorites. Life By The Drop, as performed by Stevie Ray Vaughan, has great lyrics. SRV was addicted to drugs for a long time. He eventually beat it though, and wrote a song about being able to go home and just talk with his old friends. At least, that's what I got out of it. Another good one by Stevie Ray is Pride and Joy. Just a flat-out love song, with a bluesy, rocking pace. Great song, with amazing guitar, and cool lyrics. Another great artist to listen to is Stan Rogers. Look up the son "Barrett's Privateers" if you're ever bored. It's sung all in a Capella. Great song, with interesting lyrics. Upside Down by Jack Johnson has a nice, positive message to it. i just like kicking back, and relaxing with it. Really winds me down. So, what are some of the lyrics that you like? They can be any type, love songs to death metal Just tell me what type of lyrics really get to you, and make you feel something.
I like a lot of Serj Tankian's (SOAD) lyrics, they're usually quite deep. Matthew Bellamy (Muse) also has some pretty awesome lyrics. He's really into conspiracy, technocracy, that kind stuff. Really trippy but deep stuff. Neil Pert (Rush), aside from being the best rock drummer of all time, is also an AMAZING lyricist. His more epic pieces (Read: 2112) are simply amazing.
I just love system of a down because of them, i love rock music and sugar, chop suey, and toxicity are my favorite songs made by them however, they broken up, taking a little break from the band, for a few years and will reunite back sorry...i thought you said post up the lyrics, so i erased it anyway SOAD FTW
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Master of Puppets by Metallica, Imagine by John Lennon, and Time of Your Life by Green Day. Stairway to Heaven just has really nice lyrics that move me. Free Bird really captures the feeling of becoming free, plus it's pretty deep too. I'm a huge Metallica fan so naturally I love Master of Puppets but the lyrics have a really nice message with them. It's angry but in a good way. They're trying to send a message to live your life the right way and not get caught up in drugs. Imagine, if you heard it is kind of a battle cry for people who're dissatisfied by society. I'm not really a Green Day fan but Time of Your Life is the one song I want them to play at my graduation.
I love Blind Guardian's, especially from Night in the Opera. DragonForce has funny lyrics, they rarely make any sense to me ;D
maybe black mesa... haha.. fat chance..... but theres no sense crying over every mistake, you just keep on trying till you run out of cake EPIC....
fraid most of my lyrics have to deal with demons coming to the earth, six trumpets sounding and what not. and yes its metal! <well I changed my sig back, im starting to feel a little better, but the sig stays
Most of Nightwish's lyrics are great. I also like Rhapsody a lot, in fact, all of the lyrics are related into one giant storyline that is pretty lordoftherings-like. Sounds weird but It's awesome. Some really nice songs (and lyrics of course) are Knightrider of Doom, Emerald Sword, Wisdom of the Kings, etc.
my favourite lyrics-wise from Rhapsody of Fire is 'Rise From the Sea of Flames' much different from the usual demon slaying
I like a lot of Three Days Grace.....They have a lot of sorta hard chaotic rock, but in a lot of their songs they have a good message. A lot of it is about overcoming depression, alcoholism, so on and so forth. That said, Get Out Alive is my fave of theirs right now.
Bohemian Rhapsody was really good. Not just the music but also the lyrics. "I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me."
"Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen has the best line ever in a song. "You ain't a beauty, but hey, you're alright." That line makes me laugh everytime.
I'm acctually surprised I forgot this song, but it should be mentioned at least. "Your Song" by Elton John has really nice lyrics. It's just one of those songs that make you feel warm inside. If you play guitar, play it and sing it for a woman. You'll like the results, ;P
