SInce the beta is now over, for the time being, lets share some of our stories of hilarious moments and awesome wins.

My last hilarious moment of the beta was when i was about to assualt a zerg expansion when a bunch of overlords started to fly overhead. Thinking it was just a cover for some mutas that were coming, i sent my units under them. Turned out they were filled with banelings. Army was decimated and ending up losing, but had a good laugh in the process.

My first win. I never played RTS games before that much, and never played them online. I remember when i settled for my final attack, playing Protoss vs Protoss. I moved my Army to his base and i was incredible nervous. My Heart beat soooooo fast. I was so proud when i won. Later on, i then was placed in Gold-League (when Copper already was removed) and thought to myself: "Hey, im not that bad!". Never had that feeling again, never was that nervous. That win was really big for me :)

I have been playing RTS forever... specifically Brood War for about the past ten years. I've mostly played UMS crap so I never was good at real 1v1 style RTS.

When I started in SC2, I was also enormously nervous. I was so nervous about losing that I almost didn't want to play. I've gotten over that now... about a hundred games later. Now I'm in the Diamond league!

Relaxing and staying calm is key.

And back to the OP.. I've enjoyed 3v3 and 4v4 in which it's basically 1v3 and 1v4 haha.

I played a 3v3 in which I amassed about 12 colossi fully upgraded with range.. and 30ish stalkers for protection. The best played on the other team was a zerg who built ONLY hydralisks. Suffice is to say.. I killed 10,000 resource worth of hydralisks in about 60 seconds while losing only 5 or 6 stalkers. Just a bloody slaughter.

The Beta has been great. I'm going to miss it.

Now I'm gonna go beat Mass Effect 2!

I think my "most funny" moment would have been my first beta match. I hadn't picked up starcraft against people in years though I do have RTS experiance....I remembered reading that detectors were harder to come by so after a cautious start I built a few Dark Templar (note:2) and went exploring.

I found the terran player's base and proceeded to kill all his units, scv's, and buildings with just the 2 dark templar I had there. Every time he tried to scan I was able to run out of range before my DT's were in serious danger...ended up getting accused of hacking with a /ragequit and laughed a good 5 minutes after it happened.

His partner had just been building about 30-40 stalkers during all this and it took the rest of the match to wear them down between my partner and I at that point....still gotta love destroying a whole base/army/and economy with just 2 units.

This is my first game I lost.
I was relatively new to the beta. I was Zerg, my opponent was Terran. I built up an army of roaches and my opponent made marauders. As you can see, battle lost for me. My opponent proceeded into my base and I KNEW I was going to lose. So I made one last stand... I made a nydus worm into his base, ran ALL my drones and a few lings into his base and killed EVERYTHING he had except for 1 building... his floating cc. So he killed of my last building while his CC flew away. I also had no cash for a new hatch.

    GG, but we both laughed.

I had my best game the 2nd last day of the beta: PvP, Lost Temple. I started with a foregy-build to put up some cannons at my minerals line, since I thought he was Terran (probably using MArodeurs). Bad start, so far. My Scouting drone then found he build his Double-Gate and Forge on the choke of his natural expansion... i decided to go for stalkers/immortals and sent an observer to his entry. I chrono-boosted three immortals and started an attack, aided with ealots and stalkers. Almost managed to crash the "proxy", but not completely. Meanwhile, I expanded to 2 bases and my opponent was locked in. I started 2 more assaults, but did not wait for enough units and he overwhelmed me. I had an enormous bank roll, but simply "forgot" to vreate new units. Hence, suddenly 8 Immortals were in my base! I rushed 3 viod rays and realized I could build Dark Templar, which I did. MEanwhile, my main base was lost, but I was able to set up a completely new base within 1 minute. I sent out some zealots which killed a recently set up expansion, hence cutting of my opponents mineral supply. His Immortals dies upon destroying my base because of my 2 or 3 DTs, hehe. I Set up 3 Stargats and pumped out some void rays and phoenixes, which went straight into his base. That broke his neck, especially as a also sent in 4 or 6 more DTs. Best moment: My last 2 void rays blew away 1 pylon that powered 8 or 10 warpgates ALONE. The game had already been quite over then, but this was hilarious. ^^ I won with my ain base destroyed and a new battle base which was set up by just 1 drone in 1 minute - really nice. ^^

    I'm gonna miss it. :(

2v2 in bronze league against a protoss, and zerg player while me and my ally were both protoss. Wanted to try something out of the ordinary so I rushed to dark templars, and while my ally was holding off both opponents during their first attack, I sent some zealots to assist him and warped some DTs at a proxy pylon near the protoss base. Completely wiped out his base with 4 DTs while the battle at the home front ensued. My ally was able to hold off both attacking players, and I sent 7 DTs to destroy the zerg player's expansion, and then the protoss expansion. He had a reasonably large army of stalkers guarding his expansion but could do nothing without detection, so he just left, and soon after his ally left as well. It was a great last game.

Me too! I think I am more excited to play the custom games than the actual melee. I want to attempt to make an epic action rpg game

Best game ever was a 4v4 where my team did a planetary fortress rush... when it landed our zerg player starting making a hatch next to it, then spread creep everywhere in the other team's bases and pushing out with spine crawlers. It actually worked, it was the funniest win ever.

My very first Zerg win - 10-pool, 6 Zerglings - they didn't actually kill many units, but my opponent did take all of his SCVs off his mineral line to chase em down. By that time I had 16 roaches with both research upgrades, so I took down his choke point, retreated, then tunneled back up the ramp when he thought I was gone and took out his Command Center. It turns out my opponent had overreacted to my first rush by massing marines. Luckily they didn't have stims and the only detector he had was a missile turret at his choke point.

One of my most hilarious wins only happened by technicality - it was TVT, and I'd opened up with Jon's M&M build. I managed to destroy all of the stuff blocking my opponent's choke but both of our forces were pretty much obliterated (he had massed marines with shields, my guys just had stims). He counter-rushed a little while later with his own M&M's plus a few Siege Tanks (he used comsat to get line-of-sight), but for some reason he chickened out and left me alone.

After that the game just dragged on while we both mined and amassed our forces - I'd gone mostly MMM with a couple of Siege Tanks and three Thors which I was gonna drop into his base (we were playing Metalopolis). However just as I had dropped my forces into his base, he came storming into mine with more than a dozen Thors, along with siege tanks, marines and marauders. He made quick work of my base and came back to defend his, leaving me with only one Missile Turret and one Sensor Tower. Luckily for me he he didn't know (or at least didn't care) that destroying all enemy structures was required to win the game, so he left the game after 15 minutes, granting me sweet victory!

My funniest moment was when I won the game vs another Protoss I won with DT/Prism.
He said "You're a tool" I replied "Atleast I didnt void ray rush right?" Then he rage quit.
I scouted the rest of his base and noticed he had a few rays. :p

Best moment: First game I ever played Toss and it was a 3vs3. I did the mass VR cheese with a Mothership to cloak and, while both sides killed off each other's main bases, I still had an expansion up and about 10 VR's when the game ended. For once, it was nice being on the giving end of the VR abuse.

Funniest was probably when some dude moved his Command Center over to my Zerg base. I think it might have been upgrading while flying, as I didn't notice, but before I could do anything, it was a planetary fortress and ended up killing off my base as I sent units to attack it like a big dummy instead of pulling all my probes off minerals and taking my natural. Sad, but funny now that I look back it. Man I've lost to so much cheese. At least I'll be prepared some come retail.

In a silver level ZvZ game recently neither player scouted or harassed at all. After maybe 20 minutes when I sent out my max food force, I discovered he had been massing brood lords. My force was made mostly of fully upgraded mutas. (And yes I know, I have no excuse not to be scouting as Zerg. :p)

Also, my very first game I won with mass reapers, of all things. No idea what I was thinking. :)

I had the most fun getting rushed or facing mass-units, playing Terran exclusively.

I was in Silver League (after copper was removed) so rush/cheese/mass was still prevalent.

It made me learn the hard way that I needed to throw out an early SCV to scout or leave sacrificial marines at watch towers just to have some vision.

Eventually, I noticed a pattern. If the opponent didn't respond to my "GLHF," 90% of the time I would get rushed or massed. So, I knew to be on guard and watch out for it.

A couple players were pretty crafty in their mass tactics:

I scanned a Zerg base and spotted a Spire, so I scanned a little later and saw a small handful of Mutalisks hovering within the base. I had a big ball of marines and medivacs with a few vikings, and a loose perimeter of Missile Turrets in my base. About a minute later, the back of my base gets over-run by mutalisks who punch through the missile turrets, kill the vikings and medivacs, then pick off all the marines. I watched the replay, and the Zerg player had set his rally point to the opposite side of the map, leaving a token amount of mutalisks in his base for defense. I had no reason to scout the opposite corner of the map and totally missed the massing of mutalisks.

On Kulas Ravine, I (terran) and the opponent (protoss) started in the upper left-hand and upper right-hand corners. The Protoss player fast-expanded in the lower right-hand corner but at the natural expansion instead of the starting location so that it wouldn't show up on my early Scans (looking for the player's starting location). I had a couple Banshees with cloak head to his starting base in the upper left-hand corner, and killed off his mineral line and surrounding structures. Because we were in silver league, I thought he was just not skilled enough to have expanded yet. I start flying around the map looking for another base and I finally ran into the expansion with 15 Void Rays. Banshees got away, but the Void Rays curbstomped my starting and natural bases and I had no time to build a hard counter.

All in all, I had fun because it put me on a steep learning curve to figure out how to counter rush and cheese. It was either that, or just get demoralized and quit the game and that's not an option for me.

    As for most hilarious match:

In 1v1, we were on Desert Oasis. Terran vs. Protoss. You know those Youtube replays where two high-level players are so evenly matched that they fight for 40 minutes trading expansions and armies until someone gets slightly behind and fatigued and loses? It was like that, except the Special Olympics version. We were both equally bad at our macro and micro, so we spent 2 hours and 7 minutes duking it out all over the map at a snail's pace. It's painful to watch the replay; we've got thousands of minerals building during our battles because we're too busy microing, our rate of expansion is ridiculously slow, and the unit-upgrades take forever to max out. It finally ended when the Protoss player was cornered on the map with an island expansion. We both said GG and commented on how crazy that game was, so it ended on a good note for both parties.

I'm gonna miss the Beta. With the latest reset, I accidentally went 3-2 and wrongly ended up in Silver when I should have been in Bronze. I went something like 15-30 (this was when I was getting rushed/massed and learning how to counter) and the only people below me in my division were the players still doing their placement matches who had 0 points. Then, a couple days prior to Beta ending I found my groove and strung together some winning streaks and ended Beta 18th in the division at 37-35.

Just gonna close this out by saying thanks to those who've posted useful information on this site. I spent a lot of time reading threads here and watching youtube replays, and it really helped my game.

My favorite win was as Terran against an obviously noob Protoss player (a tosser).

He built a decent army, but on a sensor sweep scan, I saw he had absolutely NO base defense. Not a single Photon Cannon anywhere! No Void Rays either.

I flew a couple Banshees into his base, without even a cloak on them, and pwned him.

The funniest moment for me was a protoss player who within like 2 mins send a probe rush at me. it was like 20 probes. I was like wtf?? I tried to defend myself but I was slaughtered. Sure I can defend against a T1 rush. But a worker rush? Who the **** rushes workers. Well at one person does and I lost to it.

my first game was zerg... i played SC1 and i knew a 6 pool was the fastest way to get lings, so I did that, thinking "i'm gonna catch this mofo off guard, boo yea, im so pro"

200 minerals for a spawning pool
    100 minerals for 2 drones
    150 minerals for 6 zerglings
another 50 minerals for a 4th pair of zerglings while doing the extractor trick

finding out its a four player map, and i cant find his base..... priceless.

another funny game... it was a PvT match. At the end I only had a Nexus with 0 minerals and 1 zealot, my opponent only had a flying CC and no minerals. We both were sitting there, and he said "I'm not landing this sh!t"

so we ended up doing rock paper scissors best out of 5... The highlight of the match was when I won 3 times in a row using paper.. I got the ugliest win ever.

<3 u beta, what am i gonna do now? get a job? lol jk
