Should the colossus get a warp animation like the mother ship when is constructed from a robotics facility.
That's one of the things that makes the mothership unique in the game, so no. Secondly, being the colossus it is, by the time the warp-in animation has finished, chances are the death animation can begin.
Well, it does come from warp, and from really far away. I always found it strange that they had no warp-in. They are basically recalled in a similar way as the Mothership. Still, Kuvazs has a good point.
Agreed. Minimal disruption, more flavour. Solid yes. I'd understand if the art team doesn't have time to get all these juicy details into place for release, but it would be awesome if small graphical updates got added in regular patches much in the same way WoW does, or perhaps in expansions. Would do wonders for the longevity of the game and player loyalty.
If the Colossus gets a warp in animation, shouldn't the just as big Carrier get one too? And hey, the Void Ray is almost as big, I think. And what about the Immortal, that one is pretty big too. (and so on ...)
Unless Blizzard plans on doing Terran and Protoss unit spawning animations, probably not. They need to do the Zerg ones though. -Psi
At least with the ultralisk I meen look at how big they are I just cant see them popping out a egg 1/4 their size.
1/4 their size? More like 1/20 their size. Also I believe and support the campaign to influence Blizzard to do a warp in effect for every unit in game!
Hear, hear, i'm with u on this one Would make sense and add realism and a certain funfactor. Not to mention a good addition to the diversity of the races. Just imagine an Ultra bieng morphed from an egg!!! mutating, growing until it POPS OUT :O And a colossus being WARPED!!!!....sweet!!. One will fall in love with each race he'll play insta!!! Could be too frakking heavy of load on the PC though All those different death animations and build ones. But undoubtedly would add HUGE to the SC2, imo. If not sc2 than maybe expantion, patch or...sc3 but should be made possible 4 sure. TY
Well maybe the egg that we see when creating an Ultralisk is just top of the egg that grows inside the creep.

starcraft deliberately has no/minimal unit building animations for the purpose of smooth, quick multiplayer. a tank does not roll out of the factory, it just pops in magically.
WoW has lush, detailed enviroments with lots of small details and the game runs smooth like baby skin. Artistic flavour can always be added with minimal system load. I dont want shining FX that slows down my computer, just detail. Those things can only add to the game, never impoverish it, look at the new death animations for example.
Im talking game size, in a cinematic or real life the eggs would be the size of 4 story houses. I would be cool for a lot of units to have unique spawning animations or at least the big ones like the Thor, colossus, battle cruiser ect and wouldn't take any thunder from the Mother ship at all and all these animations beside the ultra would be quick toward the end of the unit production and there are ways of making them so they don"t protrude on the smoothness of the game. For example the terran building have always had that slight landing animation and the drop ship has a landing animation it does now when it unloads units and that doesn't seem to have any negative implication on game play so if the colossus has a 5 second animation for warping in on the last 5 seconds of building that really dosen"t screw up any game play aspects.
YES. just make a bluish- cube (or something resembling a tesseract, would look so awesome), and then it "warps in" there. when it's finished building
