Guys, do you think blizzard should add like a warning signal for the sensor tower and ghost? like as soon as an enemy gets within their detecting range. we get a warning like "unidentified infiltrator spotted" something like that? at least even if we're busy doing something, we get to react fast against incoming enemy units. and the detecting abilities of the sensor towers and the ghosts are just a few bonus distance away from their sight anyway? so i think it would be cool to have a warning for terran players to fully utilize this mechanic (detecting).

waddya guys think? pls give feedback.

    thank you

I think there's a set of beeps when they detect enemy units, but I'm not sure.

that would be nice if it's true. because i don't see anything special about sensor towers and ghosts ability to detect. well, not that i don't see them special. the innovation is impressive. i guess all I'm trying to say is blizzard can make the mechanic more special by giving it a beep/buzz effect when something gets detected. because if you think about it, the bonus detecting distance is a bit short right? from the sight range i mean. so if a fast moving enemy unit is approaching, if you're away from the screen then you'd have to rely on your map still. and by the time you get your screen back to the sensor towers area, the enemy units is already there. unlike if you get a beep or a signal that an enemy unit is spotted. you'd be able to react asap. and lore wise, thats what terrans do best, intelligence. well, its just a thought anyway.

can anyone here confirm if the detecting ability of the ghosts and sensor towers beeps you as soon as it sees something?

    thank you

Where did you hear that? Last I heard, ghosts had the passive detection ability, but it only detected units with energy.

Ghosts can detect units with energy in the vicinity and you can look at any unit that uses energy and see how much mana it has.

maybe it would be cool if they added a detection warning like the (your base is under attack) but instead it says (enemy unit detected) and it gives a highlight on the mini map where

good idea juggy. i like your idea of having a blinking effect in the mini map. so you know which area to look at. intel intel intel hahaha. not only do you get to be warned by your sensor towers, you also get the pin point location of the enemy. nice. well, this idea is very applicable to sensor towers, but if ever this idea gets implemented, do you think blizzard would do the same for the ghost? like the ghost will give a warning as well of some sort?

It could also start spamming the ping button on that location, as if "hey, look look! I don't care what your doing LOOOOK!!! :)

I would like a warning similar to the "nuclear launch detected" in sc1.

I think that might desensitive you a bit to the warnings.

Simply showing them as dots on the fog of war or with a symbol on your screen should be enough. It will reward players who pay more attention than the common joe. Gotta give some concessions to the pro arena. :D

I didn't know that ghosts can detect units now. That's great! I love them more and more with every update. :)

I hope they dont make the new detection too obvious. While I like the idea behind this mechanic, I dont think it really fits in the game. This mechanic would reward players who don't pay much attention but have their speakers cranked up to the max, which really isn't the point. At most IMO there should just be a "ping" on the minimap thats shows the units location.

I am strongly against having any audio cue that a unit has been detected. I've played games where they do that and it is incredibly annoying.

Imagine a Terran player with a single Banshee or Ghost, flitting in and out of the detection range of a Sensor Tower. It would set the alert off over and over. It would be an incredibly cheap form of harassment.

With the Ghost- why would you need an alert at all? The Ghost is a unit that the player will be watching closely anyway. An alert would be unnecessary.

@Joneagle. You can see the current energy out of maximum energy? Then it's easy to guess what unit it is, right?

EDIT* BTW, the sensor dome beeps to alarm you, but the Ghost does not.

Wait, isn't the name sensor Tower? Or am I wrong?
