I thought that this kind of thread is necessary because people have started to go offtopic in other threads and discuss about this. I searched and found only a two years old thread so here is a new one.

Go on, discuss anything related to WH40k.

Warhammer 40k is one of my favorite sci-fi universe mainly because how awesome the aesthetics are and how deep the stories are in it. Everyone one of the races have their own special charm about them. I mainly like the Imperium of man, Tau, and Eldar.

I actually don't play the table top game or anything. I just like the lore and the RTS games that haave been made based on the universe.

I would also like to recommendd the Gaunts Ghosts story and books. One of my friends said he got the series of books and said was one of the best vissceral and sci-fi war stories he has come across. Careful though I hear the material is considred R-rated, at least the violence etc in it is.

I've been thinking of buying a wh40k book, so I would find out more about the lore. Once I was a more active 40k fan, but then my friends started playing MtG and it took my attention. I read a Finnish Warhammer forum and became very interested in the lore.

I'm still interested in the 40k universe even though I don't play the game, or any of the computer games and paint the miniatures seldom. It's such a big universe that there always is something that you don't know. So many races, so many stories, battles, etc, because there is so many books and games. So much to speculate, like do orks have small psychic abilities, because they're the MacGyvers of the game. And Games Workshop is keeping the lore a bit mysterious, because there are stories that make other stories false, which gives more to speculate.

If I were to start playing Dawn of War 2, how does one play Orks effectively?

Orks do have psychic abilities and not just small considering all of their tech works based on it.

They sold some of these figures at a hobby store i go to sometimes.

They are VERY expensive. Like 40$ CND for a motorcycle squad. 140$ for an ork Dreadnought.

I find that a combo of Stormboyz and Elite Kommandos can be very effective. You might want to back it up with a tank or two as well.

Or, if a complete frontal assault isn't your style....

Don't play Orks. Play some ***** race, like Eldar

You would be thinking of the of the Ork Stompa! Not the the ork dreadnought, those are only in the twenty-thirties range. But yeah, the table top is expensive, so thats i why find sellers on ebay and other place that sell them, only by from store if there is no other way to get what you're looking for.

Yeah I think that was it.

Why are they so expensive? They are all just made out of plastic. I feel its very overpriced.

Exactly. 40€ For one miniature is way too much. And so is 30€ for 15 similar miniatures. It seems like the game is for rich people only because it seems to be made for big armies.

And not only that, they expect you to paint these things.

But how is the quality of the plastic?

Also do the treads on the tanks rotate and do the wheels on wheeled vehicle rotate?

The quality of thier plastic is really high, and painting them is another fun part of the hobby. The treads can be made to move, but you would have to convert it yourself to make it work.

I love warhammer, especially Dawn of war 2. Though i think the warhammer universe lacks diversity. Almost every 'robotic' or 'tank' unit are based off the Space Marines. It should contain more variety, and each race should only have units that are exclusive to it's race, much like Starcraft.

....are you ****ing retarded? Take one good look at every race from 40K its as varried as it gets. For one, the space marines only have a few types of tanks/ dreadnaughts in their chapter, Its mainly the Imperial Guard that has the mechanical power.

Example one. The Predator tank: Most common space marine tank. A good medium anti infantry/armor tank. Has increased armor and it is more survivalbe then the Guard's Leman Russ.

Leman Russ: Normal varient, Standard guard heavy tank. Best against other armor and small clumps of infantry, small survivalbility chance.

And each race does have units exclusive to their specific race, take chaos khorne berserkers or The Guard storm troopers. They are all different, so dont even try to say that they are not.
