Warhammer 40k Dawn of War

I have came across the demo for this game and loved it. I am a fan of RTS ( Real Time Strategy ) games and this is by far the best RTS game I have played and seen. With the awesome gameplay and grapics make this game so good but not only that, You can zoom into battle and have any angle so You can view what is going on. This game is very realistic as most of Your infantry units have a ranged weapon and a melee weapon, when an enemy gets to close Your units will automaticly use their melee attacks. With the expansions and races this game is a very good game with the Eldar, Space Marines, Orks, Chaos Marines, Imperial Guard, Tau Empire and Necrons these races are mostly equal but advance in their ways so You choose the race that most suits You. This futuristic gameplay makes it perfect of what life will be in the future as everything is smooth and stedy with perfect battles. You can also use 'Army Painter' Which allows You to create Your own colour theme for any race and use it in multiplayer,skimish and campaign or even edit the stock colours to suit what You like. I reccomend You download the demo for Warhammer 40k Dawn of war even if Your not an RTS fan. I give this game 9.6/10

Get the demo when You have the chance to, its not a huge file ( Aprox 300 mb ) and it features 2 skirmish maps and 1 campaign map.

nice review, the gameplay is like Battlefield but on a RTS. The elf are ugly, though

I like the original Warhammer's concept more

 

The score is justified for the single player part but I would substract points on multiplayer - competative play is very hard since balancing the different factions is a nightmare and the mechanics contain a core luck factor.

Though aside from that it is a freaking melee slaughterhouse, definetly try out the demo!

 

Yeah I have it and it's fun and all, but I stopped playing it a month later and returned to playing SC BW, since DoW lacks micro since everything moves in squads (and most vehicles act like assholes when you try to move them more precisely ) . All infantry are 80% the same, with different skins and perhaps a key attribute, but nothing special. There's only a few really unique units.

But it's a great game if you want a more cinematic feeling, with all the battle animations.
I prefer the more balanced SC BW though.

 

Didn't first game have only Space Marines campaign ? Imo that alone would substract from score

 

Dark Eldar and Witch Hunters are the new races for Soul Storm

 

If i had warhammer40k then i would certainly choose space marines and orks :good:

 

I thought it was Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle. Thats what Ive heard from 2 forums and 1 person

 

Witch Hunters and Sisters of Battle are very alike. In the tabletop-game, they share quite a few units, if I remember correctly.

 

Ooooo talbetop!! My cousin is into that and the units are quite expensive. All I remember of hes army/nation he liked was human, heavy armor and one unit we got for him was a motorcycle with a pod on the side with a machinegunner if I remember correctly. I just stick to the game, more fun and ALOT cheaper I dont pay much attention to tabletop. Im getting Dawn of War, Winter Assault and Dark Crusade!

EDIT : How will two expansions go over the one game? How does that work?

 

It sounds to me that he's collecting Space Marines, and has an Assault Bike.
Anyways, I don't think you need DoW and DoW WA unless you just want the campaigns. I got Dark Crusade, and it's a stand-alone game. All I am missing is the other campaigns.

 

What so You have Dark Crusade and You have all races?! I dont think its like that but I'll get back to that later on. I have got the Winter Assault demo and it has 'game manager' ( But cant acsess it, need full game ) And that might being able to combinate all the warhammer games You got!

So I think the game manager somehow lets You play all the races You have in the games EG,

Dawn of War + Winter Assault = Eldar, Ork, Space Marines, Chaos Marines and Imperial Guard!

Tell me what You think, I dont have the full game yet so Im not sure, If You have any ideas or know, please share with us!

 

Hey hey Ive got the soulstorm demo! Its pritty good, You play as Dark Eldar and Yes there is the battle sisters or whatever, their the good people and the dark eldar are very bad, their worker is 'tourured slave' and some of their units have blades and they have demons And You can use powers like, sacrafice a slave for shockwave and some buildings have a moat of dead chopped up bodies. Theyve done well on how they make dark eldar look very bad! Heres a screenshot, hope You like it, Near complete Dark Eldar base!

I havent been the sisters of battle yet, just been Dark Eldar! Not my type of race at all, all confusing and weird

The way the games work is like this, if you have all the games installed you can play all the races online. If you just have dark crusade than you can only play as the Necrons and T'au in online matchs. Hope that cleared things up.

Oh wow!! I never knew that!! Thats awesome! But I will be playing some multiplayer so I will have DoW, WA and DC But do I play DC to have all races in skirmish and multi even tho I have DoW and WA installed?

 

ya my friend has this game and ive played it ,its my favorite game next to star craft of course but you forgot the un finished but mighty tyranid race but thats ok but i do agre the game does kick ass

 

Yeah its so realistic, If an enemy infantry with swords get to close to Your riflemen they dont keep on shooting with rifles, they get their swords and now its like back to the medievil ages Not only that but heaps of things are just real, knocks starcraft out of first place, starcraft is of course second

 

I have to say soulstorm looks impressive but it aggrivates the hell out of me that they didnt include a save feature in the demo!
