Voice Chat in Starcraft 2

Voice chat is becoming standard in many games, however it hasn't really hit the RTS genre as far as I know, should

Starcraft 2 break the mold? I think maybe a before and after match capability may be best.

Good idea, it would make esaier to plan who makes what, and you could pay attention to the game better.

 

yea i'd like to see voice communication on sc2, that wouldnt be a bad idea. Saves a hell of a lot typing heh

Blizzard is actually trying to impement something like this for WoW ( I know some of you dont care ) So that may be a good sign for SC2 but i think it would most likely be apart of the new battle.net if anything and this would be one of those reasons they might end up making people pay for battle.net.

 

Well Blizzard's always been fine with implementing a "AHA WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? GOOD BECAUSE I DON'T CARE OR HEAR. NOW IMMA EAT SOME PIE." feature. Squelch is also fun to say.

But yeah I'd like a voice chat as long as you can set to Ally(ies) or All.

 

Well like LordKerwyn said it's going to be in WoW so it will most likely to be set in the new B.Net as well. Though I wonder who will be doing the new B.Net? still Arena net or what?

 

VoIP would be dope, but at the same time it strikes me as reminscent of CS where you'll have some jerk off screaming random shit over the mic totally ruining the goodness of the game, sure you can squelch him, but doesnt it bug you a bit that you HAD to squelch him?

 

I squelch people when they communicate in text, shortly before I tell them that they have been squelched. I then politely ask the other players in the game to tell me if that particular player says anything important. Doesn't bother me at all, some people are morons and must be dealt with.

 

Well you get plenty of usefull people and a few idiots who just spam nothing you can do about it. Voice chat is highly benificial since you can tell someone what to do without taking your hands off the hotkeys or mouse

 

Voice chat on wow would be good but theres so many down sides to it. There going to have to place a squelch system. And it's ganna be useful for a person to say i see something on the map. Another down side and this one is personal, I hate hearing nerdy people on the mic. And I think you should also be able to switch the chat type to open chat so u can talk to the other team. That would be great!

 

Most games with voip in game have measure to stop that kind of stuff by allowing a toggle to talk to team or all and have a delay for observers so if you do try to cheat it is out of date info.

 

That sounds nice. almost forgot observers existed.

 

You don't realy see many anyway since most people jsut go with maphack anyway. Most of the people accused of cheating are innocent anyway and most of the cheaters are never accused.

Quick and easy way to communicate...cant go wrong with that, aslong as they have a mute button for the inevitable randomer who wants to spoil your game.

 

i never played anyone with a map hack( that I noticed anyway.) I mean if you have to cheat online... thats just sad.

 

Well, you are forgetting that people must speak the same language in order to communicate apropiately. But some cut english is good also "attack, tank go, expa" hahaha.

 

This is true but it also applies to written language so If they don't understand what you say there is less chance of them understanding what you type.
