When I'm setting up a multiplayer or co-op SCII game, large letters will appear randomly on the screen, as if my computer has a virus or worm. But virus scans reveal no viruses or worms. Has anyone had this problem before?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Okay, if you believe you have a worm than do the following please.

    1. Download, install, and run ccleaner: http://www.piriform.com/download

    2. Download and install malwarebytes:
    http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Run it, and save the file at the end. Then open it and post the contents here in a reply.

    3. Download OTL:http://www.itxassociates.com/OT-Tools/OTL.exe
Double click on the icon to run it and make sure all other windows are closed to make sure its uninterrupted.
Under the custom scan box paste this in
    netsvcs
    drivers32
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.*
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT
    %systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\Results\Install|LastSuccessTime /rs

    Hit the quick scan button

refrain from modifying the settings unless told to do so.

When the scan completes it will create two files OTL.txt and Extras.txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL

Please copy and paste the contents in a reply.

    4. Download GMER rootkit scanner from: http://www.gmer.net/download.php
Double click the exe. If it prompts you with a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to scan click NO.
Then use the following settings for a complete scan.

    http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss269/Cat_Byte/GMER/gmer_th.gif

In the right hand panel you should see multiple check boxes. Make sure that the following are unchecked:
    IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than system drive (which should be C:\
    Show all

Then hit scan and wait for it to finish. Once done click on Save.. and name the file Gmer.txt. Save it where you can easily find it and then attach it to your post or copy and paste its content in a reply.

Once I can see the logs I'll verify if there is a virus and tell you how to remove it.
