I have been having horrible problems with framerates while playing starcraft 2. I am just trying to figure out why, because my computer should be able to dominate this game. Here are my specs:

    Windows 7 64bit Operating System
    GIgabyte GA-790xt-USB3 motherboard
    AMD Phenom II X4 965e (3.4ghz quadcore)
    4x G.skill 2g DDR3 1333 (total of 8G of ram)
Nvidia GTX 470 graphics card (Superclocked edition by EVGA)
    1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm drive
    250GB Seagate Barracude 7200 Drive
Acer AL1916 Monitor (resolution of 1280x1024)
    Antec NeoPower 550watt PSU

The Game suggests ultra/extreme settings for everything, but it is unplayable at those settings. Here are the settings that I have found will get me to be able to get a 13-18fps framerate

    Text - ultra
    shaders - high
    lighting - medium
    shadows - medium
    terrain - medium
    reflections - on
    effects - high
    post processing - medium
    physics - high
    models - high
    units - 3D
    Movies - high

What is causing the low framerates when i should be able to dominate this? Please help. Thank you

I have nearly the same build, only 4gb RAM and a Radeon HD 5770 PCS+ (overclocked by default) instead. My settings are at extreme (suggested) and resolution at 1280x1024px. Get about 40fps Singleplayer Madness. Should be your drivers. Though i remember i read something about problems with Nvidia cards.......
