I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm working on the forum shop. I'm doing a number of upgrades to the database as well (to the best of my abilities) and will be installing the new version of the shop as soon as possible.

I've contacted the plugin's creator and he will be giving us our credit for the originally purchased license so I will be installing as soon as he provides me with the license.

I would expect that it will be several days before the shop is up and a couple of weeks past that date until most items are operational.

Please remain patient in this process as I'm not as experienced as I should be in completing these processes, but I urge everyone to encourage their friends to join and keep up their activity while I complete the shop.

I would also ask that discussions about the restoration of minerals and pets please not begin immediately upon the opening of the shop as it could be quite some time (and may not be possible at all) before I can gather the man hours to return all of your pets to you.

    Thank you!

Does the shop require root acess to manage?

If not maybe you should get some volunteers to help out with redistributing items.

I have no idea but that will be one of the first things I look for.

I tried a test install tonight but it failed because xml install file is parsed incorrectly (of course). So I have to wait for the creator to respond now.

Sounds to me like shoddy worksmanship.
If its a a case of a missing tag or something though that should be an easy fix.

    Do you know XML?

The whole point of limiting that work to the members of the Hyperion was to be 100% sure that people won't tamper with anything, not even just for fun. I don't mind waiting for as long as I have to as long as things are moving on, which appears to be the case.

    Jon for president

    1. Most of them aren't here right now
    2. I don't think any of them were picked on trustworthyness

    4. You don't have to be in Hyperion to be trustworthy and it is possible for Hyperion members to do something shady.

    Chill.
Jon will choose people to help if he needs them. Regardless of what groups the people belong to, rest assured that they will be supervised.

    UPDATE ON PROGRESS:

I'm currently going through and creating all the items we're going to need... unfortunately that all has to be done manually.

I'm also looking into how to display all your guys' prizes and the best way to implement while keeping everyone happy.

Expect a poll soon on how you would like the shop implemented.

I could give you a hand in the graphics department if you need.

Also - though this might be stretching it - as we're acknowledged as (one of?) the largest communites, do you think it'd be possible to contact Blizzard and ask for the icons of all the units they have? I'm pretty sure they have more than what used to be displayed, and I'm hoping they didn't get rid of them completely after switching the interface at the official site. This would create that unity that we didn't have after the user created icons. It'd just be a small favour so I thought it'd be worth a try, especially since Blizzard likes to look after its community and keep in a fairly close contact.

    Or am I ? :D

ps BoP, you don't nominate that, sc2 nominated that... you can only vote for it :p and I second that

Actually, guys, I have the icons for every SC1 and SC2 unit... We're fine in that department. ;)

The real problem is there are two distinctions: gifts and items. Gifts are automatically displayed in your profile but I can't specify a "stock" of them. All I can do is say you can buy "only one" or "more than one."

The downside with items, though, is that they're not automatically displayed in the profile.

lurkers_lurk, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

    1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
    2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

and i shouldnt be surprise by that, Jon is still as a lot of work on it.

Hey Jon, may I suggest an idea?

Member pets. Where you own specific members of the forums. Only those with at least 1k posts (debatable) would be made into pets however.

I can't remember the last I saw a broken layout because of a new feature trying its wings in the forum.

    *cries in happiness*

    I'm awesome. That's what happened. :D

Okay, so here's the official update so that people aren't spazzing by tomorrow morning and I won't have a full inbox.

The shop is up. Unfortunately it's not kink-free, of course, but I need it up so that I can test layouts, etc. You won't have access until I open it to all members.

I'm working on integrating the minerals and your pets into that little right handed blank space in your user postbit (the title bar above each post). That's proving a bit difficult but as you can see since the layout is fixed I'm making some progress.

Somehow overnight I earned 1337 php skills. Don't know how.

So I will be opening the shop once more of the features are running smoothly. At this time I haven't even figured out how to give anyone free items, so... we'll work on that at another time.

Otherwise things are going kind of as planned.
