My idea was to turn unit response sounds off in order to reduce sound clutter and possibly help my focus. I thought about what these sounds really provide to me and apart from me specifically looking for the birth sound of my 2nd queen I concluded that response sounds don't help at all. When you don't have enough resources or issue commands they talk back, which is completely unnecessary because you know their effects anyway (units will perform the action and you hear the error buzz either way). Units created move to their rally points, so no need for that notification either. By turning these sounds off I think I should be able to pay attention to improving mechanics and general things like checking the minimap and sending in my ovie at around 6:00, etc. I also noticed in my few practice games that my injections were more accurately timed. What are your thoughts? Could this be a viable tool in improving gameplay? Because right now I think it could, but the fact that pro players have them on is something to consider.
ooooh this is interesting! i remember once when i turned off all sound on my computer while instead hearing some music and my focus just got so much better!! EDIT: Although my APM stayed the same
