    I think the new names arn't really as cool as the old ones of the original SC.

    -Reaper? ok, thats more or less a good one, i admit.
    -Cobra? pff lame
    -Thor? its a little bit un original. maybe call it some other god, less unknown? Even Zeuz would be more original.
    -Viking? Why viking. It doesnt look like a viking at all. Call it something that walks but also can fly. How about the name of some angel, like Uriel or something. Ot could be called an Uriel? Or Icarus. Icarus got wings to fly (and fell to the ground) its a greek legend.
    -Banshee? the problem with this one is that there is already one in WCIII. An even worse problem is that there is a Banshee in Tiberian Sun thats also a flying unit that attacks ground with bombs.

    -immortal, colossus and stalker are cool names.
    -soul hunter? thank god it was removed. only its name was as lame as the unit. how about dark warrior? that would be even less original. Its like a newbies nickname.
    -phase prism is fine. how about just prism, tho phase prism doesnt sound that bad.
    -phoenix? they didnt really think too hard about it. maybe they called it that because it can burn whats around him JUST LIKE THE WC3 PHOENIX. However, I cant think about something really original now, but im also not trying really hard. Most of you could think about something better.
    -Warp ray? It doesnt really warp anything.
    -Tempest is cool, but calling the razors "shurikens" is just crap. Actually the tempest shurikens themselves are crap.
    -Twilight archon. Hmm it was the most obvious name for it. So obvious that its boring. Plain "Archon" would be a better name, since now its the only one again.
    Mothership? The most un-original name of them all. I think its the worst. Makes me think about the potoss as stereotypical movie aliens. Maybe the mothership can be destrooyed by sending a black guy and a jew with a computer virus.

    -finally the BANELING. Just get rid of the unit, kill two birds with the same bullet.

    Some of them are pretty cool, but there are also a lot which just suck.

    Reaper, Thor, Phoenix, Warp Ray, Mothership: all either lame or way overused. I would include the Soul Hunter, but it's out, thankfully.

    yes how can sc2 possibly live up to the names of sc1;
    scout, marine, dropship, medic, science vessel, carrier, missile turret, starport, shuttle, observer, drone, queen, armory
    + all the names like ultra/hydra lisk.

    I dont know if gui montag was being sarcastic or not, o well i think when we get SC 2 we wont give a crap about units names and if you stop playing SC2 just becuase of the names thats sad. personly i dont see anything wroug with the names right now, so what if other games have the same name its hard to think of realy good names that havent be used befor, and you cant compair SC2 names to WC3 names, there names like banshee and phoenix were not even a name just what they were the phoenix was a phoenix the banshee was a banshee.

    mmm... At first, I think some of the names were still in concept phase. But if they´re final, well, it can take a while to assimilate them, because original SC names were  made exactly for each unit, except for a few that maybe could be better.

    If they change, for example, Phoenix for Fenix.well I think it´s a way to honor the mighty hero and to keep him alive in our memory :)  but you know, that´s just my point of view.

    I think the Twilight archon is kinda cool... You know, it's always better than just plain old Archon... I always thought of it "Oh look, archon... just a blue ball". But Twilight archon just brings up the mystic side of Protosses... As for Tempest, it's nice, but Shuriken REALLY don't suit it... It should be something more like WindCutter or something like that, that suits the Tempest name...

    lol yeah it's not like they were very original to begin with. Anyway everything has been done already so as long as the name fits I say keep it.

    And personally I don't really care what their names are so long as the game is solid and balanced.

    Thor, Cobra, Viking, Banshee: isnt that great
    Mothership, Warp ray: Lemmy your comment on the mothership for somewhat makes it sounds true, it starting to feel like a dumb movie name, and i agree that warp rays dont warp anything but probably warps their lasers but it's still kinda lame.

    Soul Hunters is reasonable due to that every kill their weapon becomes stronger (+3 max atleast i think...)
    Phoenix is kinda reasonable if you look at the concept it looks like a actual pheonix spreading its wings
    Immortal= reasonable awesome
    Colossus= reasonable awesome
    Stalkers= reasonable awesome
    Twilight Archon= reasonable... i think of this because blizz is still thinking what it can do and the name is quite awesome aswell.
    Tempest= reasonable because they bring out shurikens (like interceptors) and makes some kind of stormy (i mean that they go around and shooting and causing destruction and stuff) howver shurikens kinda sucks

    They couldnt just be called shurikens, what could Protoss possibly know about Terran/Japanese culture? When I first saw the Soul Hunter i didnt even thought that it looked very starcraftish to begin with. Planet Cracker would have been a great name for the Mothership if it wasnt one of its 3 abilitys by the way. And Lemmy, Icarus would fit the Viking real good I think. But if you think about it, naming it "Icarus" would indicate that it often crashes head first, not a very couraging name for the pilots:D

    Lemmy. The fact that you're complaining about these names officially compares you to TerranGod.

    In its Bio, it talks about how they often only live on battle crashing and burning. Bad omen, but a good name.

    But what name could fit the now called Thor?
    Earthshaker? Planetary Walker perhaps?:p

    By the way, will the viking/icarus be THAT expendable? I want it to be the Terran answer to
    the immortal, more than the hydra... It looks a lot toughter than the old Goliath anyways.

    Where only cool people live... So Cal!
    I grew into Viking and Thor.

    As for the mothership...what do you think they would call it? Its a floating city, and Planetary Fortress is already taken; you can't really work with it

    As for Pheonix....I do admit that was un-original.

    For Cobra....I still think Sparrow is a better name - and i know what you're thinking and why does a name have to be threatening in some way, now THAT concept is overused

    I'm still shooting to not naming the units after legends/beasts/etc. and give them just ppl names....like how Messerschmidt and MIG were

    Id call it highlander, like the celtic highlanders from scotland.
    Sparrow is a cool name for the cobra. Mothership could have been called a citadel, but the names taken. Hmm I cant think of anything cool right now. Just look at ancient cultures, there are always good names there.

    Thor = Moonwalker? lol Too bad Michael Jackson used this name for his movie, otherwise it would b a great reference to Moon-patrol arcade. Since Michael used it, automatically it's kind of lame. I wouldn't like Icarus, cause it doesn't sound as macho as Viking. Maybe thats why they picked the name. And mother-ship is just fine. I have even nicknamed it Mother-fu*&#ng-ship, in loving memory of Doom's BFG. xD

    I only dislike Stasis Orb. o_O

    At first i really hated the name Banshee, but now that i think about it wraith isnt really that original either. I guess i just got used to it as we all will once we start playing the game, names like "star relic" wont really sound that bad.

    Yeah, the Viking should be renamed to Chuck Norris and the Thor should be called Schwartzenegger
