Well, from what I've seen for the other races, they all have had a new unit implemented in order to fulfill the role of "obstacle crosser". The Colossi and Stalkers for Protoss, the Reapers and Vikings for Terrans, and they all have a different way of winning obstacles. So I thought of this one for the Zerg: the Milliask, a Millipede looking Zerg that can, just like the millipedes, climb walls and avoid obstacles.

I remember some shooting games like R-Type, where there are aliens with this sort of shape, and that you have to kill all of it's segments to kill the whole creature. Well, a Milliask would have two ends, with two heads, one in each end. And it would move in either direction, going up and down cliffs, and crossing intersections in a movement that would be a combo of Reaper's jump with the Colossus ability to sit still on it's positions. By doing that, the Milliask could act as a bridge for other zerg units aswell. It would have a harder armor to enable them to hold on in their positions, and it could attack from both heads, leaving both the entrance and exit of the "bridge" guarded.

I recall a chinese martial arts movie, about the Eagle Kung-fu style, in which Jet-Li faces a bandit gang that fights disguised as a Millipede, exactly because the Millipede is thought to be a threat in the Chinese culture: it knows no obstacles. It's also a formidable enemy, as it's hard carapace protects it's entire body, and you have to have a piercing attack to beat it. he eventually fights it and wins using the Eagle Kung-fu style, but that doesn't matter to us. ;-)

The Milliask downside would be it's big size and slow movement, that would make it easy to be reached. And it wouldn't be that long, working as a bridge only for small cliffs, and not for large rivers and such. A great base-invasion tool nevertheless, that would work well with other zerg units.

    Opinions?

I like the idea it nice. But it needs something more like a cool attack like being able to like jump up on its back legs and strangle down carriers/tempest and battlecruisers. That would sweet!

But the thing is it also sounds similar to the Nydus Worms, so you have to crawly thingys.

    P.S. R-Type FTW

Nice idea. But how much minerals, gas and supply would it take up? And what will happen if several zerglings are crossing the millipede over a valley then the millipede gets blown up by some marines? Perhaps the lings will start falling down and you can see the bodies getting smaller and smaller and one crying out "Mommy!" or something.

I like the living bridge/ladder but giving it an attack seems a bit much. Like putting cannons on a dropship.

i think the nydus worm would become a building. and as we all know most zerg buildings are alive. it would be really cool to see zerg buildings breathing and have eyes that can look around in sc2 and when the building dies it will yell out in vain (just like the nydus worm did).

anyway back to the topic...yeah awesome idea man. and i agree with BirdofPrey; it shouldnt have any attack...just maybe alot of HP and armour to take the damage of the enemy

No no no, millipede zerg? There should be a dung beetle zerg, that can roll up its enemies into a ball like how dung beetles roll balls of s**t today. And climb over cliffs, because fucking anything in real life can climb things and so should everything in Starcraft II.

Banelings already roll up into balls, but they can't climb.

Also not anything in real life can climb anything. Then there is the fact is a game mechanic, thats right a game, this isn't a reality simulator.

i like your idea a lot, thought to be used as a bringe it should be really big, most of the gaps ive seen in the videos are actually quite big, but the idea itself is very cool, keep that brain working eye!
