Unable to Play while offline?

My internet is very off and on and I found myself simply trying to play single player today while it was down but the game would not let me. I purchased a starcraft copy entered my code. I have it registered on my battle.net account but upon "offline" login it prompts me to enter a code or something of the sort on battle.net. Please help me I do not understand what I am supposed to do.

To add to this it says I need to make a character name which I have already done. I have my name hotbread online and have played multiplayer matches. I tried Play as guest and it said the same thing.

unfortunately, you need to have a live internet connection every time you start starcraft 2 in order to authenticate it. After you do that you can disconnect from the internet and it will let you continue playing (single player of course) while being offline. It just wont update your achievements.

Untrue. Once you authenticate once, you can then use offline mode. Some say offline mode has a 30 day limit, but I haven't seen anything personally to confirm this. The short of it is, that you must log in using your battle.net account at least once. If you are behind a router, you need to do some port forwarding. If your at a university or collage that blocks everything except port 80, well.. we're working on that issue in another thread.

I'm having same issues as u hotbread. I can play offline for about a day and then i have the same problem as u. seems to loose my account info and u have to re-log your game into battlenet. This is not what i was looking for when i purchased this game. why can't they just let u play offline without logging in every day/week/month as mass effect 2 lets u do. this is really a pain that should not be required. just let me play offline all the time if i want to. I used to play warcraft as well until they went to online only. I stopped buying the product then. I wounder how much money they lost by not letting people play a great game offline in the case of warcraft.

I'm having the same problem. But I have to log on to battlenet after each time I shut off my computer! I only want to play single player / offline, and find this "log-on" requirement to be infuriating. There are many times when I simply have no internet access at all, and at these times I find myself unable to play at all!!! HELP!

I was also unable to play offline, which was frustrating b/c I travel a lot and don't always have internet access. I would always get a message saying I needed to authenticate my game client.

However, patch 1.1 seems to have fixed this, even though this wasn't one of the 'fixes' listed on the patch. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

  8. I am not sure I have patch 1.1 but as of yesterday I cannot play

Could not connect yesterday, found how to play offline and now today can do ntohing

Very unhappy, I log into battlenet it says my game not registered

Seems very complicated to play a game offline
