Tychus was a major character in the story, no doubt about that. But from a storywriter's point of view, did he really even have to be here? His actions don't significantly alter the story save for first introducing the artifacts, he doesn't seem to symbolize anything obvious except maybe Raynor's past life and the price of freedom, and his death doesn't seem to leave any after-effects that might influence the future. He just doesn't seem to have any real purpose. He's one of the most out-of place characters I've seen in awhile, which isn't necissarily bad, but it does make me wonder what the story designers had in mind for him. He just seems to come and go, like he never even really mattered, and doesn't seem to leave behind any obvious influence or legacy. Maybe the next chapter will clear things up, but just looking at Wings of Liberty, it almost seems like his impact is so miniscule he wouldn't even be mentioned in future chapters. What do you guys think? Why do you guys think the designers created Tychus Findlay? Let's keep the discussion civil, and feel free to spout any wild theories that might be on your mind.
I dont care what his purpose really was, to me he was a kick *** character and something i ascribe to be later in life. Minus the criminal record part, but i mostly think his part was to show that the past can be cleared and that one can start anew. He was mostly a metaphoric character.
You want to be a 300lb drunken bar brawler who's probably done steroids? Why not just go play football? (ba-ZING!)
I saw him as a pretty good metaphor for Raynor's past, actually. Putting aside the marine training, the criminal activities and whatnot, Raynor had spent the past few years hunting for a way to kill Kerrigan. Thychus is a living embodiment of that, given a life or death mission (much like Raynor had resigned himself to) to kill the Queen of Blades. Raynor killing him was the same as him killing his own past - the drinking, self destruction, criminal activities and wanting to kill Kerrigan. Maybe.
I dont think hes dead. Raynor new they was somethink up with his suit.... Just saying... you never know.
:mask:the reason he was in the suit is because of dept and that suit can shut down his eternal organs
My opinion on Tychus Spoiler I don't think he's dead. I have a good feeling that Tychus' deal with the Mobius boys will keep him alive in one of the future expansions. He was imprisoned in his suit by Mengsk, but he made a deal with the Mobius people, which was never really revealed (perhaps to free him?). Correct me if I'm wrong though about any info.
When I first saw the ending, I thought the same thing: that Tychus wasn't really dead (after all, there's no direct proof in the cutscene that he died; gunshot). But then after looking at the 1 player screen where it shows campain information, it states that Tychus is indeed dead. But, who knows? Maybe he survived somehow. Or maybe they cloned him or something. For me, him not dying made a lot of sence, because it seemed to give him more meaning as a character. But lets just assume for the sake of the argument that he is dead.
Here's a random idea.. You people got brainwashed in school into thinking there are some hidden meanings and reasons behind everything that tells a story etc. etc... Perhaps they just wanted to throw in another drunk because it tickled them so. Ever think of that?
That's because there ussaully always something like that in every story, otherwise it would be kinda boring if everything was just out in the open. You need to have some thing that can connect to the player/reader. If not, it's going to be really bland story.
How about this? Think, Tychus "died" on Char. Near the place where most of the Zerg were gathered. What if the artifact didn't kill all the Zerg, which of course is true, but one lived on char and infested Tychus...? How's that for an idea?
being a traitor no...seriously,he was representing Raynor's past. probably he is not dead (hope not, even being a drunk moron,he was like a brutal char, violent and psycho XD )
