Who ever said anything about infantry?

Yesterday I played a 4v4 (all computer) and I decided that I wasn't going to make any marines, firebats, or medics. So I went straight to building tanks and goliaths. I built nothing but those two units and I dominated ruthlessly. I stormed base by base with eventually 40 tanks and 30 goliaths, and the enemy had no chance. It was pure ownage! And I was also able to take out the enemy's air units with my mass goliaths, while massing tanks for the ground units. I will never use infantry again!

I wonder how many times you'll have to be rushed until you get back to going for an early game army :D That is if you play against human opponents. I don't understand why anyone would play against the computer when they have an internet connection anyway.

Because they don't have an original game. :p
And how do you manage to send that amount of units?
I always send 12 or 24 at most. It's hard to control them because of 12 select units limit. :(

Because the computer doesn't hack and isn't actually an annoying little kid who can't spell.

Playing a comp is good if you want to learn the basics of a new strategy.

It will only work well against the computer because it doesn't use abilities very well.

Against a human player playing as Zerg use of spawn broodling can make the tanks blow themselves to bits and if Goliaths are used to screen air defence plague can decimate them unless you have a ton of SCVs handy. Against Protoss you can do something similar using stasis + zealots. Terran just double nuke.

Isnt really the worst strategy against Zerg. But on higher lvl it can only be used on some maps, and only like 33% succes.

Problem is that if you skip Marines entirely you will die to any rush. And a normal player would of course worker-scout, notice the teching and lack of defense, and counter it immediately.

Can't get on to b.net. I can only get on LAN, and no one at my school that I can tolerate talking to plays starcraft.

and I lost both my copies of Original and BW the day before the no-disk patch came out (the third time too!)

I lost my original Starcraft discs too. But when i bought the game I made like 5 copies cause I knew it would happen =P. Anyways, a fleet of guardians and some other units could take care of that. Since you have no flying units, you can't reach me from over the water or on top of a hill.

A fleet of only guardians would be quite hard to get.
Not only they are are very expensive, they also have no way to defend themselves properly. The Goliath is a way faster unit then the Guardian, so they would easily be beaten. Also, you could at least build a few Valkyries to be sure that they won't harm you at all.

It could work, but on very few occasions. If the enemy scouts you out they'll probably just go all in with a rush very early.

Yeah, most good Terran players only do 0 - 8 marines the whole game vs protoss.
They just either go for around 5 marines and some tanks, or block their entrance, and train one or ZERO marines. Then they go straight for the armor! Tanks and vultures and the like, high tech units :)

I guess it all depends if the Computer players attack you or other computers, a rush in the begining or a scout would totaly ruin your strategy xD, but nice tactic : b.
