This question is in the context of playing as Protoss in a Terran/Protoss 2v2 team, against TT or TP opponents. I'm having trouble properly scouting and responding to enemy Terran players in my 2v2 games. I generally find that Stalkers are best in these match-ups, both to stop the possible Reaper rush and as a general base unit mix mid game. Where I'm having trouble is if the Terran opponent(s) switch to mass Marauders. Early scouting doesn't tell me much since they both require tech lab and gas. I've seen players go early double gas, "standard" gas, and late double gas and still attempt either a reaper rush or a mass Marauder push. Against mass Marauders, I desperately need zealots, but I seem to find out too late. My scouting probe has to run or gets picked off before I can determine what they are going for. By the time I have an Observer out their unit selection is already marching on me. So I HAVE to make 1-2 Stalkers first for reaper rush. But after that, I don't know what to make because I'm blind on scouting until it's too late. As I said in the title, this is in 2v2 games. I play with a Terran ally. Is there something he could be doing to help with this? Maybe a scan in between my scouting probe's demise/departure and when the Observer gets up? For reference, our team is #1 ranked in Silver league. Trying to break into gold! Looking for ideas. Thanks!
Absolutely! The Terran player should easily be able to provide the scouting you need, make him do it. For help with scouting use your Observers on Expos, so you know when they are expanding as opposed to sending them to their death (inside your opponents base). But yea tell your friend that an orbital command would be nice it allows a full view wide range scout costing 50 energy (max building can have is 200). Get him on this ASAP he can upgrade as soon as he lays down a Barracks so get crackin
Marine and marauders are a core combination for most terran players. Assuming that they are going that strat fits fine. As protoss and terran I know that having seige tanks with observers is pretty amazing. Combine that with your army camped on his natural or just outside, makes it rough to defend against. As protoss I like to get an early robo to either get immortals for a mid game push or snag colos for late game. Sentry, stalker, colos is a pretty strong combo late game against mm terran armies. However in two v two. Scout the protoss and bang the **** outta him instead of trying to kill the terran player.
Okay, you do not HAVE to have stalkers to beat reapers. Get 2 cannon towers.... get a forge before getting your 2nd pylon. and put 1 tower beside /behind each gas.... ask your ally to get a rine or two in your base if reapers are annoying (but your probes will be safe). Get zealots + mmm early, rush the toss/zerg tech to heavy robotics, get your ally to cover AA with vikings. I'm ranked 5th platinum and this seems to work fairly well (I play toss, my ally randoms or plays terran/zerg). As for scouting, yes, he scans. Often. ________ vaporizer
