I don't have any concrete ideas but I thought the thread could set off anyway. I started it to collect ideas about Tweak's Minions in SC2. A few questions to consider:
    • I think this site would suffice to be the clan homepage - this way sc2f gets traffic and we get to get our own site with zero effort put in :) Of course if someone is adept at webdesigning and volunteers to make a separate site it would be most appreciated. It would probably allow more freedom to incorporate clan things.
    • I would like to see ranks. Not because I like bureaucracy (on the contrary), but because it's a badge of contribution, and everyone likes contributing. RIGHT?! Also it'd give that little military flavour to it... and SC2 is a game of war... you know. Anyway. Something in the sig would be nice, or on the avatar, though that might be imposing on the members' freedom. Now SC2 might offer names and icons, but in case it doesn't, I was thinking in relatively simple terms, namely the ones used in Worms - of course we wouldn't need so many combinations. The way I see it is that experience points would be fairly hard to get, and ranks would come into play during voting as a multiplying integer.
    • With that we get to sharing the work and keeping activity high as much as we can. Some of the offices I would like to see are
      • Mapper: organising as well as doing the work on clan maps, compiling map packs, doing scenes, creating the clan logo on units if possible, etc.
      • Artist: dealing with the visuals of the clan - clan signatures, avatars, maybe items here, misc. fun things.
      • Minister: keeping track of ranks, member count and list of names, allocating offices to suit interests and reliability, confirming recruitment, etc.
      • Coach: organising games, possibly clan wars, practice matches, competitions, and pretty much everything to do with sitting down and playing.
      • As well as other offices if the load needs to be spread, possibly with more imaginative names than what I came up with.
It goes without saying that being 11 o'clock in the evening my ideas could sound pathetic, especially because I just typed my session of brainstorming. However, it does work as a draft and food to kickstart the discussion. SC2 is nearing its release and we wouldn't want to be caught with out pants down. Now I'm no nerd and this would seem to contradict that. But my rule of thumb is that if you start something in time and don't rush things, you can achieve a lot with next to no effort put in. We have about 6 months to get this going.

    Flashforward a year...

You do realize that this clan isn't really about playing the game right?

And holy hell, a post here, bout time. It's been over a year. My clan board till just now was the only one active, at all.

I'd say it couldn't have been and for now, isn't... because the game isn't out yet. But nowhere does it say that it's strictly a forum-only clan. It started as a fun congregation, and I don't see why we couldn't move that to in-game.

    Yea sure, do that.

Good luck getting Jon to actually help with anything. Since the clan was given to him and not someone more proactive in clans. coughmecough

Yes the leaders have a great influence on it but if there is nobody else interested then it's not worth it :\ I can understand why Jon would abandon the clan in such a way. One of the many things showing the lack of interest is the fact that this thread has only had 8 views and 4 replies.

The clan used to be fun but if there's no demand for revitalising it then I might as well stop trying now while I haven't put any work into it which would just turn out to be a waste.

Well, I applaud your effort. Keeping a clan alive is tough, I know this.

However, if you attempt to get things going again, you may see others seeing you trying and come out to "play". So to speak. So keep trying.

Sorry if I killed what you were trying to do.

I just realised, can everybody see this section, or is it limited to members?

Anyway. This clan thing that I had in mind was basically to keep us from this site together even when everybody will be busy playing :p and hopefully the clan would serve to arrange games more easily and such. Plus everyone knows who has any online experience that it's always a lot more fun to play someone you know (well, as much as you can over the net) than someone you don't.

Yes ofc, but when sc2 comes out, everyone will flock to clan Empire so it works out for me.

And this is a private board, only members and global mods/admins can see it. You can't see my Seraphim board can you?

E will facilitate an extreme minority from this site ;)

I can't see your board. I must've been confused by seeing E and reaper corps then.

The paid clans requested to be public. When these were setup the whole thing about them was that they were private.

I doubt it. My recruitment will be there.

ZvT me sometime Vasz? Since you were trying to set up games, or at least had that in mind.

I feel with 2 interested and active forumers I can copy this to a public space and bump it with an invitation for other forumers to express their ideas in the topic. Nothing has changed since the initial post from way back, which means nothing has been established, so feel free to bring all your ideas.

This is in a public space which means I'm also looking for non-members' input. And seeing as how clan members aren't particularly active I don't think any of them would have anything against accepting applications, should a senior forumer be considering joining others from here in the form of a fun, but more game-oriented group.

well, since I was never let back into clan TM for some reason(even though I was the first minion of tweak), I'll take this chance to say that I would wove to join this clan. If i can get my PC up to date.

I'm not a leader or anything (I don't even know who is) so I'll just put you down for the time being until it is decided who decides and how who can join.

If my memory serves right, Jon is actually the "leader" of TM. Although I'm sure he'd turn it over to you kuvasz, or anyone else for that matter since by now, he's probably forgotten himself that he's the "leader" of it.

AFAIK he plans to resurrect his old clan so...

And I'm not seeing ideas, people. Here are a few.
    • I plan to hold mineral prize tournaments. I have a shipload of it and if the shop reopens it would help make accounts more unique.
    • How would the clan tag appear in screen names? Prefix or suffix? I had in mind a few variations: tm./.tm, [tm], |tm|. These are pretty mainstream ones. I'd like to see others' ideas. As well as some interest <.<

the first one is a good idea.

As for the second one; does battle.net support the trademark symbol? In that case all of us would have it after our names.

I would like to avoid that because some platforms might not support it and then the confusion between that and just writing 'tm' would be a nuisance. Plus the trade mark symbol affects the word before it usually, while we would want it as a separate entity resembling a group and only relating to the nick loosely. Lastly, using the special symbol would make members look conceited :p

We could have a common avy/sig as well. I know Aur's interested in those.
