(Warning to children, don't read this post without pretending to ask your parents. It involves language that you already know, but pretend you don't. Yeah, your not fooling anyone.)

I heard somewhere on the forums that thors can survive nukes. If that’s true (and maintains true) try this new funky idea!

What you are going to need...

6+ Marines (as many as you’re willing to lose)
    1+ Ghost(s).
    2+ Thors (full health).
2+ SCVs (To keep the Thor in shape).
1 Nuke (more if you want to spend the pop-cap).

    Optional
-Medics (again, as many as your willing to lose)
-Vikings (if you are a master at micro/timing)
-Pet Zergling (every ghost should have a pet zergling ^_^ )

The first thing you are going to want to do is create a distraction with the marines. Basically, they soak damage until the thors can get far enough into the base to cause some real damage. Right when you have your thors in place (SCVs behind them), grab your ghost. Than have him drop a nuke...on the thors.
Now, you opponent has a REALLY hard decision to make. If he focuses on the thors, he may be able to hurt them enough and retreat for the nuke to be lethal (to the thors)...but he's going to have to risk his army and lose a part of his base to the nuke. If he focuses on the ghost, he may (probably will) stop the nuke. But then he lets the thors/units hammer his base in the mean time/after. If he goes after both the ghost and the nuke, he can't micro very well, and risks allowing the assault to kill his defense/base. Whatever decision he makes, he is going to lose something. The only question is how much.
If things go well, the nukes drops (Get your vikings the hell out of there before that thing hits!), the nuke kills his units and damages the thors to near death, but leaves the thors and vikings to clean up the mess. If things go wrong, you lose your units, your nuke, and little permanent damage is done. If that happens, I recommend either blaming gnomes/ blaming your brother and or sister/ off your self De Gaulle Style. You can probably guess why.

    Pros-
    Bat shit insane
    High damage
    Simple

    Cons:
    Expensive
    Time consuming
    Bat shit insane

So there you go. Is this a good idea? Not really. And if your actually try to win (what’s wrong with you?!?) you probably wouldn't try this all eggs in the basket attack. But if you want to give it a try, go for it!

Haha wow, that's an interesting one. It could work one out of twenty times, but I think people would just use Siege Tanks from range to blow up the Thors after they're weakened. Not to mention that pulling this off would take so much time your opponent could probably just Yamato gun the Thors to oblivion.

Good, but you probably want to have a second force to continue the attack after the nukes are dropped. Like 10 marines, 5 meds and 10 scv's to repair the THORS.

    Interesting...
*meloku pulls out a needle, and pokes what looks like a bubble*

thor can't survive nukes XD He was in my base when I launched one on myself and didn't survive. Sorry mayte. good strategy though, might work with defensive matrix though! (lol, as if this strategy needed more complication XD)

Thors had a hp of 700, and the Nuke did 400, right? Then why can't they survive nukes.

btw, lovely strategy, too bad it'll work as often as the Cannon Rush did.

I thought the nuke delt 600 attack to anything at ground zero and the damage lesend the farther you were from the center.

lol that was some powerfull LCD bro... just kidding obviously

even if the thor could survive a nuke, there is no way this strategy could work, ghost have reaaaally low hp, one dark templar should finish it in maybe one hit, max 2, there is no need to use your army for that little bitch, just kill those thors, send a couple of immortals to hold their fire, and use your lovely "insert unit of choise" (id go with warp rays just for fun) and now, for the results, i give you that maybe you destroyed with those powerfull thors a couple (6) of my cannons, BUT, maybe you should look at how much does the nuke cost, and the ghost, the marines and the THORS!, so i think no sane man could use this strategy, so i say 1 out of 100 that it works

but you know? writing this and playing is very different so maybe one day we should play and find our if it works dont you agree my friend?

The nukes are now stored in the Black ops building (makes sense). The Building you mean is the Thor tech building, the Munitions Depot.

    hey shadowdragon

what if the enemy has a reasonably sized airforce?
you might need a bit more AA

plus i would have sentries to alert of an incoming threat such as a thor

then the nuke never gets in range of the main base

but still it would work in some cases and is a cool idea

Instead of nuking your own thors, just put the ghost between the thors for protection while the ghost locks a nuke a bit futher inside the base.
Or, just run as fast as the thors can into the next side of the enemy base causing enough confusion to get the nuke launched back at the entrance. And let the thors kill some too.

I use the term "Bat Shit Crazy" all the time and I have no idea where it came from. When I read your "bat shit insane" I laughed so hard I almost cried. At work. In front of patrons. oops. Awesome. For being cool as shit, you get . Mad, mad props.

Also: in reference to this thread. If Thors can survive nukes, can BC's or Carriers? Could they survive in SC1?
