Thor VS Mothership

How can the 2 MOST Powerfull units in terran/prottos species fight? thor can't fight air units...or he CAN?...thor should have some missles that auto launch like mothership's lasers ??? ???

 

he can attack air, he uses lasers i believe.

 

Mothership will pwn the thor(s) in a very small matter of time

 

Because they edited the MS into an ATG unit.

 

(MS + timebomb) + thor = dead thor

 

if thor uses laser then its too fast for time bomb...

 

The objective of the Thor is to kill ground units and structures, so its not meant to fight a mothership.

i've just wanted to say that mothership and thor MUST be equal because they are most powerfull units in their races....dont they?:-s

 

I don't know.. I havent seen the thor attacking air... And haven't seen lasers on it either. Actually I am sure the special cannons will hit only ground units.

 

he attacks air with his normal guns i think. it sort of looks like a flak gun explosion, which is neat. also the mothership can own the thor... just timb bomb it then crack that bitch.

 

That might work if the Thor is alone, you don´t want to move the MS into the middle of your enemys formation. Timebombs effect is not THAT big.

 

one timebomb would be enough to slow down a thor and it's attacks, i think. it's about the size of a bunker now, so maybe the guns will be able to poke through the bubble.

 

That is still assuming it will have enough energy to use TB and PC right after each other. But even in the best case it´s actually good for the Terran if the MS fights the Thor, that unit is extremely durable and easy to keep alive (Repair).

Timebomb and Planetcracker won´t help against all thouse Vikings flying around...

 

I am betting the Thor will use the guns on its back as flack cannons.

 

the mothership changed from a 1-man fleet to the center of the fleet, so it kept it's 300 energy(last time i saw)

If it's a 1v1 fight I agree with Unentschieden, use the timebomb then park on top of thor and use the planet cracker. If it's not dead then you've seriously damaged it with little or no damage to yourself. Also, while thor may be able to attack air, I don't suspect he will use the same weapondry as for attacking ground. I'm sure that trying to take somethng in the air down would be pretty difficult with artillery. (I mean c'mon when was the last time you heard of a chopper or plane being hit by a morter). Artillery is not an AA device. Also the goliath, wraith, and scout all had different AA and AG weapons depending on which they were shooting at. I'm sure thor will be similar and that his air attack will be less powerful.


P.S. I don't think thor is a balance to the mothership. I though he was a balance against static defenses and the colossus.

time bomb makes it that slow...

Edit: Besides this topic is rather pointless. You aren't going to send a lone MS to attack an army. If anything you'll send multiple MS's and an array of other ships, including carriesrs and warp rays. MS's time bomb the army and the rest of the fleet kills the army.

 

obviously this topic is pointless, we haven't even played the game yet (not he final version anyway)
