    Maybe we were mostly in the less well-off places but I rarely saw locks. In fact the vast majority of the bikes were just thrown on the pavement.

    I got the impression that the people there were cool and didn't even consider stealing someone's bike, or worst case scenario that they could just buy another one for 10 euros.

    Bikes here are surprisingly expensive actually. You won't find any working ones for under 30 euros, and than you only have a mostly broken one.

    Decent bikes I've seen (multiple gears) are usually 100+ USD. Bikes w/o different gears are probably around 50-70.

    Been forever since I've looked at bike prices, so they probably aren't accurate anymore.

    nah, there is a dynamo somewhere as well.


    Also, fun fact: my lock is one of those industrial grade steel chains, closed using an O-lock.
