Okay guys lets be honest. Who here has a pretty decent computer and specs and yet can only play this game on the lowest settings where you can barely see the screen and the gameplay experience is horrible? Im sorry but this is a huge disappointment. Either we all have to get supercomputers or this game just wont work out for us. I mean low settings are unbearably bad. Worse than the original starcraft graphics BY FAR. Blizzard is gunna have to do something about this because this is a MAJOR problem. Some of you probably are not ready to admit this because you just got the game, but I am.

idk, I have to play on low with bad fps and I still enjoy it over SC1.

My youngest sis is using a computer from a few years ago and able to play on high by just buying a better graphics card.

My other sis just got a new laptop for college that isn't anything special and can play on medium.

Hmm, playing everything in Ultra here, no problems.
Tried out the lowest settings on some old laptops, and it's still a fantastic game.

    Trololol?

I don't know about anyone else, but I found that my computer handled the beta a lot better than release...
Maybe its because 9001 people were on bn last night but it seems to skip up a lot more and have overall lower fps

Starcraft 1 was sprites. Starcraft 2 is something new in the world called 3D. I'm playing fully maxed out and this is gorgeous. Maybe get some glasses...?

if you can only play on lowest settings, your comp is far from "decent"

a $600 computer could easily pump out high or ultra settings. your comp is obviously worse than that.

Not quite 9800GTX but running it on a GTS 250 512MB which is little more than a rebadge. Seems to work okay. I forget what driver version, but it's definitely not the latest one... Using Windows 7 32-bit.

9800GT 512 here. I could play on Ultra, no lag with 4g of RAM and a nicer processor.

Works fine with medium settings on an Asus EEE 1201n netbook. (The screen is small indeed but got an external monitor at home.)

Ultra everything and looks awesome for me on campaign..haven't played online yet but on the original Starcraft I always had to turn off sound, video, and turn down everything for lag so anything better than that will make me happy.

Awesome game. Now I just need to figure out how to get it to recognize that I registered the CD key so I can stop using the guest account..

I'm playing SC2 at pretty much low settings. And it still looks rather beautiful. So those who say you have to have full ultra for nice visuals are just telling us all BS lies. Mind you in saying that I'm sure ultra would look even more lovely then the low settings I have to play with. ANd if you're getting a new GPU get the best one you can obviously.

Your system specs? I don't see them posted anywhere in this thread. Would be useful information for troubleshooting.

    Core 2 Duo T8300
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2

Running on low settings, relatively smoothly but with hiccups.

Anything higher than low settings becomes unplayable.

    Eh?

My computer is nearly 7 years old and I can run it on medium. It's not even a gaming computer.
Also, my girlfriend doesn't even meet the minimum specs and still plays her on laptop.

SC2 is very optimized, infact it feels like it runs better now than during the beta.
During the beta, my friends computer would overheat. Now, it doesn't even do that.
Super computers are NOT needed for this game.

As for the lowest setting graphics. I suppose they feel worse than SC2 is because they are low quality 3D images.
In SC1 the units/buildings were sprites (drawings played in a sequences, very much like a flip book). SC2 units/buildings are actual 3d rendered models. Thus, I suppose a low quality 3d model looks worse than a drawing. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the game still. Gameplay > Graphics.

+ I don't think they look that bad, just reminds me of half-life days.

Make sure Crossfire is disabled. Crossfire is probably not supported yet.

I thought of that, but I wasn't able to figure out how to disable Crossfire, as the option wasn't available in the Catalyst Control Center.
