Jim Raynor can't cut as a useful leader ever since his psyche broke. The dude just doesn't have his original mojo anymore!
I agree somewhat with thread, but im not going to fully resign myself to such an opinion until i find out more about what they have in store for his character - they wouldnt be building up the guy in respect to his drinking etc etc without a conclusion and some form of character development and closeur here. It would be wise to expect that he gets back on the olde' Western Marshal horse, so to speak... Or; lasts long enough for the audience to associate and enjoy his character through development - to be killed to get a big emotional response... That would be somewhat unexpected :O. Would you cry if Jimmy died in a brilliant Emotional blizzard cinematic, which was built up and up to?! Goddamn i hope they do something like that.
No because i believe you need someone that can connect as much as tassadar did. I mean every hardcore fan cried when he sacrificed himself to the overmind ( explosion wise ) , i was dumbstruck. Not a pathetic little Vietnam veteran wannabe. God blees the vets!
How do you know that's not the point? To make run down version of Raynor in the beginning. Maybe Blizzard has a bigger plot for him as you play the campaign that will regain his heroic stature. Just wait for the story to unfold itself through (keyword term) Character Development.
Jim Raynor is a great protagonist. Though i agree that he should drop that 'Back water marshall accent'. Hopefully, blizzard will come to their senses and assign a better voice actor. He sounds horrible in all of the preview materials so far!
I hate how people always assume the protagonist has to be flawless. Flaws are what make a character believable and epic. I also hate how people liked the original Jim Raynor. The original Jim Raynor was flawless.
Well I liked him for being a good ole boy and at least having a sense of justice in a universe severely lacking one.
What? You what some girl talking for him. His voice sounds like it would be coming from him. You might as well have a chipmunk talk for him the way your saying it. I agree. 1 post not 2. You can edit the one. Agreed. Blizzard might turn him around. Do we know that? No. But I would say they might turn a little bit around, or all the way. I agree with that he will become a very important character. Knowing blizzard, he will regain at least some of his heroic stature. He might even over throw Mengsk. He might even marshal in a golden age for the terrans. Do we know? No. Again wait for Starcraft 2 to come out, and then play all of the campaign. Then you may complain about him.
Not happening. Jim Raynor kicks *** in large quantities, why would you ever think he is not fit to be the main character of WoL. My happy face does not agree to this suggestion.
The only problem I noticed about Raynor being protagonist is his damn hair, how did a baldy get that back. - I like the terran campaign in SC1, they definitely acted like humans as being selfish, arrogant, and deceitful. That is why it is full of excitement. Now if anyone other than Raynor is to be protagonist, that has to be someone heavily involved during the the beginning of this wars. For me, Raynor was quite the typical face characters for terran and other than that I couldn't see anyone from mengsk side or the UEDs side to be on the right track... Which makes me wonder?? Which race is really the Protagonist of the Game Wouldn't you say that each race has their flaws and mistakes accountable for them enough to be considered as on the same page as zerg is right now?? i.e. terrans inquisitiveness, protoss arrogance against the xelnaga and their discrimination amongst themselves. And for zerg seeking to much power that is out-bounding equilibrium. Which side is face to begin with?
I don't see what the big fuss is; How couldn't Raynor be a little on the rusty side after everything. I honestly love the progression, him being all worn down now.
