These ad threads

How come I can still see them though they are deleted?

 

Same here. The unread posts thing doesn't update threads to unread anymore after the spam bump. Further, you sometimes still see the name of the bot as the last person who posted, while the post is already gone.

And a bit off topic: is that dns stuff still not updated?!

 

Yea it's annoying, more so when it's in the empire board, that I have powers over, and the thread isn't even there.

We're currently testing a new spam system and I'm actually just getting to the point where I will allow it to completely delete threads/posts that are spam.

So this "ghosting" should stop.

 

When it turns on us, I'm its first target.

How will you determine it? Someone deletes it as spam and it deletes all by that one user?

 

I doubt that, since such a function is already there for global mods. :/

 

No it utilizes a remote server that analyzes post times, post count, length, URLs, etc, to determine if something is spam.

Sometimes it catches stuff that isn't spam but I've limited it to 20 posts so it won't affect established members.

Seems to be working, fended off a pretty hefty spam attack this morning. 125 spam posts.

 

Wow. I've never seen 125 spam posts at once yet. Not anywhere.

Can you also check what it removes afterwards?

 

Problem solved, me and Jon will have to keep an eye on things until it is fixed in the program because I think it something that can only be done manually but time will tell.

 

125 posts is a lot, I've seen bigger, but that's still a lot. Thankfully it was all in one thread for some reason and I could just delete the thread since it wasn't important.

 

That's good, because a regular mod can only delete all threads and posts of a single user if it's below 50. For anything higher you need to mess around in the admin cp. :/

Bump, your new spam filter doesn't seem to be doing a good job of hiding the fact that we're getting spammed.

 

That's because the original problem with it was never fixed. I have just been using a manual overide to keep it at bay until it is updated. Would you rather we go back to the old system where the posts were still visible?

 

I wasn't sure if you were aware of the problem or not. Just letting you know.

And what if I did prefer that? Would you kill me? I don't, just playing lol.
