I've seen from a future site that the campigns will be sold in three seperate discs one fore Terran, Zerg and Protoss, i also learnd that their estimated to be 50 dollars a piece wouldn't that equal 150 dollars which no other game in the history of games are that pricy. So would they give you Battle.net with the first one and allow you to play with all the units but just have the campign and no other campign, now if this is true we would be buying the same thing plus extra for the same price so that it would accurate for it to cost 100 to 110 dollars but then they wouldn't know if you had one or not and you would still pay the same for less.

have i heard wrong or is this really how its going to be?

Only the campaigns will be limited to different disks all disks will hold the capability to go on Battle.net. The only reason they are splitting the game up is to allow choice and deeper campaign storyline in the first there were about 10 missions for each. In the upcoming there will be 30 for each race with different choices allowed for each. I'm okay with it, doubt the following will be 50 as well though most likely $35 to $40, for the following two.

lets not forget tax so your spending more then u think. not to mention if you need a new computer to play the dam game like me. so i'm looking at like at least $1500 to play sc2. i do not approve of the spliting up of the game unless there is going to be MAJOR i mean life changing differences from the first version to last! like new race, units ect...

It's gonna cost you $1300 to get a computer to play SC2? You are shopping in the wrong places my friend.

Considering the amount of stuff they are putting into the singleplayer section of the game it'll be worth the price. But yeah they are just stand-alone expansion packs so SC2WOL will cost the same price as other games and have just as much content. Every race will be released (for multiplayer) in the first "pack" of the game. Blizzard hasn't announced anything about how new units would work or if they are even adding them in the expansions for multiplayer but they have mentioned that (subject to change) you can play with people who have the zerg or protoss section of the singleplayer.

I think because unlike most RTS's the majority of SC fans are focused on multiplayer, blizzard will have seperated the singleplayer and multiplayer parts of the game quite a bit. So singleplayer may be updated through massive content packs while multiplayer is kept up to date through major patches (which may cost a few dollars).

I'm fairly sure blizzard is still working out how its all going to work though.

  7. It's one game plus two expansions. Don't freak out!

@muncie16: You could max StarCraft 2 with a 600$ iBUYPOWER PC easy. That's probably even overkill.

A future site? What does that mean?

No prices have been given. However, video game prices have been increasing over time. StarCraft II will cost more than StarCraft, and each expansion will cost more than Brood War. However, Blizzard has already confirmed that the expansions will cost less than the first StarCraft II product, which is also common sense.

You can't use an expansion without the main product. The only game I've heard that broke that rule was C&C Red Alert 3: Uprising. Expansions won't contain the "core" material (eg game engine), they will simply feature a new campaign and new units, just like Brood War did. This is why expansions cost less.

In short, it's exactly as good and exactly as bad as buying Brood War.

    so
they are comfirmed to be around 120 dollars.
Have the jam pacted stuff price of other games.
and i wish i could just buy SC2 part2 :heart of the swarm without buying 1 and 3 becuse im a Zerg fan but i won't get the whole story.

and a future site predicts dates and prices
so that means that i found a site saying the approximate date and price and that the price would be 50 dollars.

Their prices are confirmed where, exactly? You have no idea.

Combining their prices (which no one even knows yet!) and then calling them expensive is poor form. When people bought StarCraft, they didn't usually say it cost $70 because that's the price of both StarCraft and Brood War?

Also, you couldn't buy the Brood War campaign and skip buying StarCraft if you only wanted to buy the Brood War campaign. This isn't new. That's the way video game expansions have been since at least 1996.

Unless the zerg and protoss games have upgraded units/abilities for multiplayer, I don't plan to buy them for a while. I bet most of the scenes will get uploaded to youtube or something similar, which kinda eliminates the need to buy it myself to see the story.

Blizzard already explained there will be new multiplayer content and new units in the expansions. Just like Brood War. (I can't say that enough, right?)

Sure, you can just watch the cutscenes. (I watched much of the Command & Conquer series that way.) However, if the new missions are cool, you might want to buy them just to try them out.

Personally, I'm delighted at the "train robbery" mission that will be in Wings of Liberty, and hope such creativity will be displayed in the expansions as well.

Forgot that they were acting as expansions. However, I say college is more important than buying 3 similar games.

In SC1, only reason I played the missions was to see the cutscenes at the end. I never liked SC for its single player, though it does sound like thier becoming more creative in the missions.

    It is.

I guess I'm glad I'm out of school now :)

As for missions, have you played Warcraft III? Some of those missions were cool. I wished StarCraft's storyline had been put into Warcraft III-style missions. (And now, my wish is coming true.)

You may play b.net on the first one but the second and third will have new units upgrades etc. :)

  16. Listen to Kimera757, people. He's one of the most knowledgeable (if not the most) person you could ever hope to find.

The StarCraft 2 Trilogy is one game plus two expansions. But, there is a bonus in that you don't have to own the first one to pay the others. They all are self-contained products.

well i'm sorry i live in canada for 1 and i'm not going to go out and buy a computer i will have to replace in a year. not to mention i dont feel like playing sc2 and Diablo 3 on almost bare minimum requirements. i want it to run flawlessly! so yea $1300 including monitor is at the low end. higher end looking at $2200.

but hey if you know a place that can get me an intel Q9500 or even a Q6800 with 6gb of ram and 1tb of hard drive space with a radeon 4650 512mb graphics card with a 22" LCD flat screen monitor for under $1300 send the link over to me because i'll buy the Coc Sucker.

  18. Again, buy from iBUYPOWER or CyberPC. You can get a GTX295, 8GB 1600mhz RAM, and Intel i7 940 for that price. Thats.... so far beyond what StarCraft 2 will require that that PC will laugh at you as you install it.

I can see it now, "You kidding me? You bought me to play this?"

Their still working on the campaign atm so this could acully be a blessing in disguise in the form of SC2 getting realesed earlier then if they where all released at once (if this is the case).

Also if this is the way its going to be most likely things will be in terms of the main game then 2 expansions.
