I walk down the street seemingly unarmed, but truthfully no monster such as I is ever unarmed. I walk down the streets pondering over what makes me this way. Why do I have so much anger? Why do I feel so distant from others? However my pondering stops as I soon remember that I must focus this anger on other monsters such as I. So that I may protect the humans for which I am so envious of. A human walks down the opposite side of the road, and stops to look at me. I am puzzled. Why? Why is she looking at me so awkwardly? Surely I am not the first she has encountered. My kind are everywhere. "Are you alright?" the human asks me, and I am again puzzled. I stare at this creature for a bit, and it stares back it's eyes showing confusion. Then it slowly walks away. "Don't worry human." I think to my self. "I am not like the other monsters.". After this I take my axe out of its cover, and continue walking. Soon later I hear a victim crying out "Help me!" I run to the humans aid, and see a monster attacking her using some form of explosives. I act quickly and charge to over the monster, and prepare to swing my axe to rid the world of this evil. The creature turns around, and I see fear in its eyes. That fear does not last long, as I quickly plunge my axe into its skull. The monster is dead. I've saved the human! Then I turn to look at it, and its eyes are filled with fear. Fear towards me? "It must be in shock." I think to my self, and continue onward down the road knowing full well other monsters are close by. I hear it. I hear it from another house! Another monster is attempting to harm the humans which I envy so. I hear the screams. I hear them and they sound muffled. I then turn quickly to the tall building to my right. This must be it! I charge in, and quickly kick down the door to see another monster trying to crush the human. I move in quickly with my axe, and quickly remove the fiends head. It's blood splashes on my face, and flows over the wooden floor. Again, I turn to look at the human I have saved. Then I notice it too looks frightened, and horrified of what happened. It looks at the monsters corpse in shock. I stop to think if I should try to help calm the human, but I must continue onward others need my help! I run out the door and continue down the road. It wasn't long till I heard another victim, but this time it must have been under some kind of mind control. It was laughing! I must vanquish this evil quickly before it kills the human! I charge in the direction of the noise, and this leads me to the monster in the alleyway. I act quickly and slay it before the humans mind is gone for ever! I send my axe into the monsters back, and it dies. Bright lights shine on me from behind, and I turn. "Police! Drop the axe!" I look and see monsters! More monsters! I quickly charge at them for I must do what I can to slay them all! I hear loud bangs and suddenly I am on the ground. I don't understand? How did I fall? I see the second victim I saved run towards me in tears, but also anger. I don't understand? Why is she so upset? I saved them. "That's him! He killed my husband!" she shouts. I don't understand. I try to ask why she is upset. I try, but my jaw does not move. I cannot move my mouth, and cannot form words. Why? What is happening? My head feels cold and numb. I try to understand it. I was kind of going for a creepy end but I think I failed at it terribly. TBH i kind of laughed at the ending a bit after reading my story a few times
I think the biggest issue with the ending is it's too predictable. I didn't trust the narrator about halfway through. Otherwise, really not a bad read. Held my attention for sure.
