Dustin Browder, aka Cavez tells a b.net member why the Battle Reports can't be as frequent as people would like them to be. Lots of busy guys involved. But hey, that just means they're busy making SC2. The Battle Reports are delaying SC2 damnit. Source
Good find. Still, they could just put two guys on it full time. More video material -> bigger hype -> more people who want the game -> paychecks of video guys easily earned back. Duh. Only videos make it to gamespots front page and such. It could be better then tv commercials. Who watches those freaking 6 or more blocks anyway?
Haha! I was just reading that. He makes it sound so simple but it still takes them months and months to get a video.
Yeah, they basically admitted that they spend most of the time just screwing around. It kind of makes me wonder if they actually are trying hard to reach the December "deadline" despite what they let on. Also, I personally, wouldn't mind adding a month or two or whatever it takes onto the development time if it meant I was given more videos. The problem I have with this whole wait for StarCraft 2 is that I don't get to see enough of it in action; not so much that I don't get to play it. That's why I'm so excited about the beta even though I probably won't get into it. It's not just because when it starts that it means StarCraft 2 will be released soon. It's that I consider the beginning of the beta (i.e. the beginning of the internet video storm) the end of this grueling wait.
this is an excellent find, no doubt, as I do smell something fishy, but only because I'm eating a tuna sandwich lol
I really can not believe Blizzard when they say it takes them so long to make a simple video. Me with very little knowledge in making videos can easily add a voice over and change the format of the video. Anyone could. Anyone that posted this with no knowledge could do this in say a day at most. If you had to search and download everything. This also leads me to believe Blizzard is not working nearly as hard as they should be on SC2. But I guess because of the money they are making from WoW they don't have to worry about how long they take developing a game.
Since we now know the beta is so close I hope they never work on another Battle Report again. I'd rather they just work on making the game what it's expected to be. Besides, the community videos will probably be of much higher quality anyways in terms of commentary, skill of play and strategies used, and other things. So, they might as well work on something that will have a lasting effect.
