hmm not really, its not somethign i would love to look at in the game. but its not really bad, and creating a 3d overlord would be pretty hard to do so i applaud them for this. its not bad at all. i think that the green thing should serve a purpose, or be kicked out because it dont really fit the overlord to much.

It should be hard to do?

Cmon now, its blizzard for pete's sake. They have to make the zerg look good if they're holding it for so long.

There are a lot of other units that look so much better.

I think the overlord looks really nice. It actually looks a lot like the original overlord, which I didn't expect. As for the green things, I think they're there to show that the overlord's carrying units, just like how the bunker lights up when it's got units inside. Or it could be a symbol for an upgrade, probably the transportation. Or it's just there to show the player color.

hmm, if its meant to symbolize that it is carrying units, it would make lots of sense and i wouldnt mind. but then their leaves the problem that those overlords would become the targets of anti air; eliminating the idea of a overlord swarm to drop ur units in the base. the enemy would all ready know which overlords had units and which did not have units, of course the confusion of so many overlords entering a base could sort of slow the otehr player down, its still would unbalance it. does the drop ship show if it is being occupied?

The enemy knowing about it would certainly be a problem. But maybe it's visible only to the player and his allies. Also I don't know if dropships and phase prisms have this kind of indicator but from what I saw in the gameplay videos, they didn't. But if the green thing really is a mark that it's carrying units, it only makes sense for the other transports to show that. Remember that this could just be the color indicator, since in the screenshot the zerg player's color was green.

ya as a color indicator i could also agree. so there we go, mayb its just a color indicator. i admit that in sc1 i would sometimes get confused with overlords.

me ---> " AGGH WHY CANT I CONTROL THE OVERLORDS "
Other player ---> " that is because that overlord is mine..."

If it's only color indicator it sucks. It doesn't fit with the rest of the unit, like if it was separate part.
That and I don't like how it looks less organic and more like a bug with carapace. Though I guess that will be the case for all zerg because of 3d. we'll have to wait for SC3 for REAL Zerg

    the overlord looks sexy...seriously...

besides zerg are meant to look "insect-toid". and also, creating zerg in 3D is really hard...seriously...blizzard have to work so hard making it look so...."organic" and "real". tahts y...im congratulating them for their fine and awesome work! seriously its good!! how much do u expect?!? i mean...look at the banelings faces...they kinda look funni with a black face, 2 red dots of eyes..and sharp teeth. u c...its hard to make 3D zerg.
i guess they could make it better...but then we all have to get uber comps...which some people cant afford..-_- (me >.>)

and also, dont u think overlord has evolved after 4 years?...its more like=
overlord: "man....these zerglings im carrying are so scared in my sack....i need to evolve some windows..."

and whala!! windows for units to look through =D
    yeah? yeah?! LOL!

and also...zergligs look great.....dont u guys thinK? if u look at the screenshot where the overlord was ull c some lings that look ACTUALLY similar to sc lings. umm...around top mid. look at the ling closest to the one that just died and there is a blood area. see?! he looks similar to sc1 ling..lol

but anywayz...imo overlords are dam perfect!! i love those orby windows. and yes i agree that they will represent the team colour. =D

tahts all i have to say..rofl this is like..my longest post in the whole forum -_-

Oh I see, next thing Zerg are gonna get dental plan

The problem is that I don't like insectoid zerg much. Guess I'll have to cope with that

Zerg are always gonna be insectoid, because that's the only way they're going to have these hard carapaces as armor. The only units that could escape this looks would be the Ultralisk, as it resembles a mammal, and Hydralisk, as it resembles a snake. All other Zerg are very much insectoid in its concept.

But I like the orb a lot, I mean, Overlords do have some sort of Psyonic ability. Otherwise they wouldn't pose as control-givers for the swarm. If it is for lore and for team color, I like it. Representing it being full would be bad. And branding the Overlord with colors on its carapace would also be bad, imo.

The model looks fine. Maybe if the tones down the color indicator on it so that they don't look like giant gems on its back. But overall it's a great model. I wouldn't mind it being a little bigger though :)

I think that the size is fine. It is about as big as it was in Starcraft 1. People probably look at the Siege Tanks and the Bunker and stuff, but remember that a lot of Terran things have gotten bigger, including those two.

Also, even if it looks like gems on its back, it is ok: Zerg mutations are somewhat powered by minerals. So if it looks like it has rocks embedded on its back, it is still fine.

Well I like the overlord, the face is really cool and I really think they did a great job on it. The only problem I have with it is the player color spots on it, I really think it looks stupid to have those little color spots. If they didnt have those than they would look awesome IMO.

Yea, I must agree I am very happy with the overlords new design however I do believe that it needs to be just a little larger (not to much). After all it is suppost to be able to carry up to 8 hydras on it. (yes i know sc1 and sc2 units are far out of proportion but i still think the overlord is a bit small in its current state)

Nah, I think they're perfectly fine.
    Great proportions and style.
I hope all Zerg units look this good, Blizzard! :)
